T-Mobile will begin selling the Gear S3 this Friday, 11/18. LTE version for $399 plus a $5 add on for data.
Damn that's high - $50 above AT&T. AT&T's $10 a month to add it to a plan so I guess T-Mobile at $5 makes up for it over the long run. I got my AT&T Gear S3 for $49 because they allowed my S7 Edge to qualify as a "new Galaxy purchase" when I exchanged my second Note7 for it. T-Mobile's selling the Gear S2 Sport for $100 off making a year old watch $259. I guess T-Mobile doesn't want to sell a lot of watches. ;)

I've a feeling T-Mobile will lower the price.

Other than being able to use the LTE version without the phone, are there any other perks I'm not seeing? I've already pre ordered the non LTE version and wondering if I may want to switch.

I've had either a 3G Gear S2 or S2 Classic since they were released. And a Gear S (only 3G) before that. There are times you don't want to have to carry your phone with you; especially a phablet. Like going to the clubs, working out, beach/pool, or when you need to leave your phone charging. With either auto-call forwarding or one number (AKA AT&T NumberSync) whatever you do on your phone (except taking pictures) is on your wrist. It's very liberating and, to me, worth $10 a month.

I got the IconX headphones and they solve the "not being one of those people having a speakerphone conversation on their wrist" problem. Their case is incredibly compact and easy to carry around in your pocket. For calls they operate in mono so you only need to put one in your ear. They're "auto on" so all you need to do is take it out of the case, put in year ear, and you're instantly connected. They turn off when they lose contact with your flesh. Very 21st century. ;)

Intriguing. Thanks. I take it battery life takes a hit with the LTE version. Decisions.

Last Samsung watch I owned was the original Gear with the camera in the band. Still around here someplace but it no longer takes a charge.

I'm pretty sure it only takes a hit when you leave your phone. If you're going phoneless most of the day, then it may be an issue.

The SoC in the Gear S3 is far more advanced and efficient than those that preceded it.

Samsung Exynos 7 Dual (7270) is a dedicated processor for wearable that presents a new paradigm to the wearable industry. In addition to advanced 14nm FinFET process, integrated LTE modem with various connectivities, and 64-bit dual-core CPU, the Exynos 7 Dual integrates memory and Power management IC all in a small tiny package making it perfect for slim form-factor wearable devices that are powerful and has incredibly long battery life.

Between it and the far larger battery I'd be surprised if an LTE Gear S3 couldn't make it through a 12 hour day in stand-alone mode.

I had one too. I loved that watch and the camera got panned but I got some great pictures I wouldn't have if I had to fumble for my phone.

Over the years, I've tried various types of headsets- in ear, on ear, ear buds, neckband. No design has been completely satisfactory. I think the mechanism by which we talk/listen on a watch phone is the last problem requiring a totally new technical innovation. The best concept I've seen so far is a project that originated out of Samsung's labs called Sgnl. I hope it makes it to production.

The problem the IconX solves for me is portability. Its small tubular (charging) case allows me to stick it cleanly in my pocket. That's opposed to wearing a dog collar BT headset around my neck (Gear Circle) or fumbling with a wired headset or God awful looking 80's era traditional in-ear BT head piece. With my IconX in my pocket its easier to leave my phone at home and manage calls and listen to music on my Gear and not look like a moron when I'm not using it.

Just ordered and will be delivered on Tuesday. T-Mobile is inundated with calls for the S3 and I can see them running out of stock fast.
Would have loved to pick it up but none of the T-Mobile stores in Lower Manhattan have them in stock.

Just picked mine up from the T-Mo store. They only got one in and were holding it for me. It's on the charger. Haven't played with it yet. $20 for the wearable unlimited plan.
