I've a feeling T-Mobile will lower the price.
Other than being able to use the LTE version without the phone, are there any other perks I'm not seeing? I've already pre ordered the non LTE version and wondering if I may want to switch.
I've had either a 3G Gear S2 or S2 Classic since they were released. And a Gear S (only 3G) before that. There are times you don't want to have to carry your phone with you; especially a phablet. Like going to the clubs, working out, beach/pool, or when you need to leave your phone charging. With either auto-call forwarding or one number (AKA AT&T NumberSync) whatever you do on your phone (except taking pictures) is on your wrist. It's very liberating and, to me, worth $10 a month.
I got the IconX headphones and they solve the "not being one of those people having a speakerphone conversation on their wrist" problem. Their case is incredibly compact and easy to carry around in your pocket. For calls they operate in mono so you only need to put one in your ear. They're "auto on" so all you need to do is take it out of the case, put in year ear, and you're instantly connected. They turn off when they lose contact with your flesh. Very 21st century.
