I'd compare prices with 2023 mid range phones, and if OP9pro is still cheaper, I'd buy it because this phone was flaghship at 2021. I think it still can deliver excellent performance for 1 or even 2 more years.

However, personally I just hate OOS, it has many stupid bugs. I just installed a Pixel Experience ROM on mine and it's being a blessing. That's why I don't even consider getting a new phone at least for one whole year (and I already have one year with the OP9pro). I'd recommend to install a ROM and get rid of OOS.

Good point. Was thinking of using a custom ROM as well. The issue I currently face is the availability of the OP9Pro, and lack of used models where I am. Brand new the 8/128 sells for about €600 and 12/256 for €800.

The 12/256 is still expensive. Maybe 8/128 is a better option if you want to save some money, and It will deliver great performance with 8GBS of RAM, as far as you aren't a hard gamer or take/edit a lot of videos in 4K all the time.

Are there any useful tips people have to extend battery life?

I understand its different for everyone, but I hear some people tweak the clocks of the SD888 or use a specific rom

Yeah I also wish there was a headphone jack. The Asus Zenfone 9 with the SD8g1 (and some Sony Xperias) look good for that reason too.
I have set all apps except viber and messenger to auto sleep. Turned always on display to off. Turned nfc to off. Turned ram extension to off. There is no need to tune the clocks or something. It is not the good old times of Google Nexus anymore :). Stock os of oneplus is great, I wouldn't install something else. Also no need at all for 12gb. 8gb is more than enough for 90% of tasks. If you need 12gb then you are a hardcore user and probably also need a newer phone.

I think hadware is pretty good, buy software is a mess, Oppo got his claws into it and now it is mostly Color OS rebrand.

I still think it is worth it, I got mine for 400 EUR in OnePlus official store and I have mixed feelings, I dont want to custom rom it, but with root and some magisk modules it gets a lot better. Camera is really good, I come from a OnePlus 7 pro which in performance was better (yikes, indeed was better!).

For gaming I would never recomend OnePlus (or any BBK phone) as it has a 60 FPS cap for most games thanks to Color OS WHICH LAST YEAR IT DID NOT HAVE AT ALL, I got a Realme GT Neo 2 and it was a BEAST, and now it just sucks so hard... Just like every single BBK phone (in terms of gaming).

When released they claimed "HyPeRtoUcH" but that feature is gone for good, now touch sampling rate as some apps say is 120~Hz, nobody seems to know (or care) about it. My main reason of purchase was 120Hz gaming but I got so disappointed...

Performance is just weird, it hiccups here and there for no reason, and 120Hz is just enabled in some games and may require to force defice refresh rate to 120Hz, if not some games will never work at that freq.

My biggest problem was Brawl Stars, for no reason no 120FPS support, capped to 60 trying every single thing, the only thing makes it run 120FPS is a magisk module for COD Mobile, here it is:

Still don't know why, but it makes BS run 120FPS (Oh, and COD mobile as well! it is so much smoother at 120FPS)

For apps browsing and regular use go for it, it is damn fast, no problem (you can solve easily 60Hz cap for some apps, not a big deal, for instance Youtube, google maps capped to 60Hz)

Yes, thank you, we get it, we've all read your opinion. You can go ahead and move right along and find another bowl of corn flakes to p*ss in.
I can understand why OG OnePlus users are mad.
Some of us lived the best moments of the brand, and what we have now is just a fancy Realme (even Realme had downgrade because of Oppo color OS LMAO)...

If the price is good I think it is still a good option, I would not pay MSRP, but cutting a good chunk it is a good buy.

If I had not get the 9 pro I would have gone for a Snapdragon Samsung, I love how they work and they are doing a great job in terms of software.

We are all free to share our opinion, and I have been one of the "Don't buy this ****, run away", but I think is better to explain why or why not in order to help OP (Op not OnePlus xD)

I'm grateful for everyone's opinions, as it give me a well rounded picture into the experience you all have of the 9 Pro!

My options now are to get an inflated priced OP9 Pro 8/128 €600 and if I spring for the 12GB model, I am paying near the same price for the OP11.

Due to the pricing, it is tempting to take a look at the OP11 and debloat it to give a similar "lean" de-googled feel of the roms I am thinking of.

For that money definitely go for the 11... I got my 9 pro for 400€ a few months ago, and you can even get the 10 pro for little more than that, I would definitely not go for it for 600€

I would neither go for the 11 because for what I have read they are introducing non repair policies. OnePlus pad battery is coded and can't be replaced outside OnePlus (just like happens in Apple iPhone) and that is a no go for me as a technician, my former 7 pro began with battery issues and replacing it was a piece of cake and a matter of 15€, with super fast charge comes battery degradation you want it or not, and it is fairly simple to replace battery, except if they make it impossible via software...

(I know you can code Apple batteries outside their service, hardware exists, but it is expensive, not worth it unless you use it for your job, and OnePlus is not that popular to invest in the hardware to code their components)

Look bro
Let me explain you in very short summary
OnePlus 9 pro:
Cons-
1.old
2.888 heats a lot
3.no support for higher fps in games and hyper touch is gone
4.front cam is not good
Op10pro:A failure
Op11:
Cons:
1.it becomes fully oppo
2.software support is bad
3.may get green lines in future updates
4. 3dmark wildlife extreme test stability scores is even lower than a mid range
So you may not have consistent stable gaming for longer duration
Now what I thought you should consider these following devices

1.Xiaomi 13pro
2.samsung s23+
3zenfone 9
4. Moto x40
5.iphone13 or 13 pro
6. And my favourite upcoming nothing phone 2

Some comments here are true.

I'm not a hardcore gamer (I only emule old consoles sometimes lol), but I'm an Android fan and I've been for a long time, even better if it's pure/vanilla Android. That's why I hate custom UIs like ColorOS, MIUI, EMUI, One UI, you name it.
Development is also one of my concerns when getting a new phone, I stay away from phones that make hard to unlock bootloader, rooting or installing custom ROMs (I killed a Xperia X8 once trying to unlock the bootloader... lesson learned!).

So, when it's about OnePlus, I have mixed feelings. I lived glorious times with devices like OP2, 3T, 5T, 7 pro, they were awesome and OxygenOS was freaking great. Unlocking the bootloader was so easy and it still is, so when we talk about unofficial development, let's say that OP is still making it easy.
In the other hand, I don't like the path OP is taking. They say it's a company "run by fans", but that's certainly not true, because they are just adopting what OPPO does, mainly for the software. As I said, I hate heavily customized UIs or UIs that intend to be iOS copies. The main reason I don't use an iPhone is because I hate that horrible OS. I understand why Chinese brands want to mimic iPhones, I just can't deal with that.

So, if you are interested in development, installing custom ROMs, etc., OnePlus is still a great choice if you have time and patience to read and follow instructions for procedures like unlocking the bootloader; otherwise, if you want to get the best of Android without having to deal with actions like installing a custom ROM, just stay away from OP, there are better options.
If you are into hardcore gaming, photography, video editing, etc., OP is always a step behind from other brands, to be honest. Even if the phone has awesome hardware, the official software is very crappy.

At the end, it's your choice!

There is still development here for the OP 9/Pro however what I am extremely disappointed with is the lack of commitment from OnePlus to release complete source code. Just look at our selection of OOS13 custom kernels... oh, there isn't any! Custom kernel for OOS stops at OOS 11 because that was the only time OnePlus released complete source code.

The OnePlus 9 Pro is still a good phone as long as you are not running OOS on it.

Yeah I tend to agree, as a OnePlus 6 owner, watching the slowly dying flame of enthusiasm for the brand. I keep the OP6 alive with LineageOS for now, and its great. Still looking (although not as intensely) for a new OP9P, but am noticing the prices going even higher. Maybe my online searches are causing the market to perceive an increased demand lol

I agree on that, but there's an explanation for what OnePlus is doing: the stopped being an enthusiasts company. And if they wanted to survive in the business, they had to become another conservative brand such Xiaomi, or Huawei.
Sadly, it's the end of an era. OOS 11 was their last good Android ROM indeed, after that, don't expect any comitment with the devs community or enthusiasts like us. That's why I'm using a custom ROM (Nameless OS) and I won't go back to OOS 13 or whatever version they deliver in the future. And my next phone will definitely not be from OP.

I just bought T-Mobile one of these (12g mem and 256g storage) for $320 refurb off Amazon. Nearly $40 tax, though. I like the phone very much. Working on T-Mobile to unlock it.

I've been using 9 pro for almost a year, sold it and currently i run OP 10 Pro (it's solid but so dull...you can hardly call it a oneplus.). I guess i'll be getting a used 9 pro as a secod device (for fun).
...or I sell 10 pro and get pixel 7 pro instead ;)

Hey all! I looking to upgrade from a OnePlus 6. I am interested in custom roms (LineageOS/Microg) and the free availability of the MSM tool to help me in the case of bricking.

Is a new OnePlus 9 only (latest) phone left on the market that can still do this, or is it a dying breed?

How are people liking the curved edge of the screen? Are accidental touches a thing with a case?

Is battery life a problem, or would a custom rom and lowering the clock of the processor via root be necessary?

Is 8GB RAM enough? I'm not into gaming.

Any other issues I should be aware of, such as the upgrade to Android 13?

OR, would it be smarter to look elsewhere, even a OnePlus 10/11 and simply "debloat"?

    Thanks!
I like the Pro version with 256gb storage

I recommend the One Plus Pro 9 as well. Went to bestbuy several months ago and they ordered it for me. Best phone I ever used plus very easy to root / twrp.
