After restoring a nandroid, I lost my fingerprints and was unable to go to fingerprint manager. I could see there were 2 fingerprints but was unable to start fingerprint manager

Following steps solved my problem
* In Titanium took a "backup all user app + system data"
* reboot to CWM and "Wipe all user data"
* reboot and ignore settings(I didn't login to Google Play)
* check Fingerprint manager to see if it's accessible
* installed Titanium APK from external SD
* Started Titanium and "restore missing app with data"
* rebooted
* In Titanium "Restore all system data" (unselected Fingerprints 1.1.0)
* during restore it hanged restoring wssyncmlnps
* rebooted and unselected wssyncmlnps and fingerprints
It restored all system files
Rebooted and my phone was as it was without any fingerprints

I have about 90 apps including my settings of Nova luncher, it would have take me hours to configure everything again.
This took me less than 30 minutes

I hope this helps

Can't believe I haven't tried this way, thank you for letting us know! Seems indeed faster and much much easier instead of setting up everything from scratch..

Still sucks tho that we have to erase all our fingerprints every time we have to get a nandroid backup..

In that case, ultimately a clean wipe is still required. Sigh. I'm stuck in the same situation as you guys. One thing I noticed when I went into settings and attempted to search, it was trying to do a data restoration... "restoring data..." for quite a while, but still of no use.

What do you mean with "clean wipe"?
If you follow my steps you won't lose data or settings.

a little apprehensive...

With Odin you flash your custom recovery. Flash attached file from recovery, it's said in OP.
Have fun :)
I'm trying to recover photos from a friend's phone that has a broken screen. The touch is unresponsive so we can't use his pattern unlock, so this seems like it would be a good solution. My only concern is that we don't want to lose any stored data as we're trying to retrieve baby pictures that weren't uploaded to google.

Just to alleviate my concerns, this WON'T mess with the internal storage so that we can just use a swipe unlock via OTG mouse and retrieve the photos with Kies right?
I'd hate to lose the photos of his kid's first year :(

*Edit* Also, does this require being rooted or anything? This phone is running completely stock and it doesn't even have ADB enabled in dev options.

All solutions tested in this thread require root mate, because you have to edit/delete specific system files so administrator rights are definitely needed.

You can probably unlock your device tho through Samsungs site if your friend has a Samsung account registered in his phone (plus Wi-Fi or data is on).

I've figured out how to remove registered fingerprints without factory resetting.
Saw your way in the other thread, nice find! Just wanted to ask tho, does backup password work afterwards in settings if we want to add/delete our fingerprints or a factory reset is needed in order to do that?

Since deleting that file removes your registered prints, adding new ones will require you to set up a new backup password. :) Lockscreen seems to store your password somewhere else, which is why it works from the lockscreen but not from settings.

910T with 5.1.1 maximum ovrdrive ROM. When i make a nandroid in twrp I don't have a lock set. I do have 2 fingers registered and restored a backup last nite and the settings for finger are still there and work. So,you don't need to clear out the settings just don't have it active when making the backup and your good. I have done it many times without issues on 4.4.4 5.0.1 and 5.1.1.
