I know the differance is the baseband. But. The thing im wondering is. Is the model number for what the baseband supports? If so couldn't we just buy a c650x whatever model and upload the c6506 to the phone to get the lte for the US?

Short: NO.

Long: No, it's the hardware.

This phone has an APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC. APQ => Applications Processor without integrated modem.

Most with an integrated modem could in theory I suppose, if you had a proper radio but it's kinda a "Depends". The SII Hercules on Telus/T-Mobile is the only device I've encountered where you can flash change it between normal bands (Telus, AT&T, etc) and AWS (T-Mobile). Likely because it's a device that was shipped to carriers on different bands and is pretty much identification in terms of _hardware_. I doubt we normally get the firmware needed to make that change but I usually don't screw with that.
