install the apk after that reboot..
Open File Manager and go to "sounds" folder inside you will see "Call Recorder" and open it.

On my Mate 10 Pro BLA-L29 dual sim build 9.0.0.206 everything works flawlessly, I have record button. Did you restart your device? What's build number?

This is the best thing that has happened. I refused to upgrade to pie but not anymore. This APK unlocks the native recording for my P20 pro. Now I can use the latest software and still have the call recordings. Thanks all!!!

Same problem here. Mate 10 Pro BLA-L29-C432. Only auto recording works, not manual as the icon in the dialer is missing. Any ideas? Maybe the dialer app is outdated?

No need to root only install apk and you are good to go for p20 pro.

You don’t need boldneast or ACR. Just download the hwrecorder apk and reboot. But you need to have pie installed.
