Hi Guys,
I have just rooted my s3 and this is a new to me. But I too came across this camera mod. Only to find out it doesn't work on JB 4.3.
forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but I have a camera app that already records at 30mbits and more at 1080p.
There are plenty of options in the menu to play with. You can also adjust the audio recording quality.
I admit it doesn't have all the features this mod does, but it's a start... And the best bit is you don't need to be rooted. The app is called LG cameraPro.

Again please forgive me if I'm on the wrong track as I'm new to this....

Camera Mod Note 3 to Galaxy s4 (i9506-Snapdragon version)

Here my newest MOD:

Now for the GALAXY NOTE 2 / Galaxy S3 :

New in 1.52:

- based on Galaxy NOTE 2
- FAST -MOTION ENABLED
- SLOW MOTION ENABLED 1/2 , 1/4 , 1/8
- All the HX-MOD stuff from the last versions integrated....
- Just flash the CWM file !

New in 1.5:

- based on the newest Firmware "BLI7"

New in 1.45:

- based on the newest Firmware "BLG1"

This time Samsung has changed a lot and it was much more work to figure out all the features. I still want to fix some minor bugs, so that i can release the 1.45 version tomorrow.

note: To have the Camera COMPLETE silent you have to delete some system-Audio files from:
\system\media\audio\ui

"shutter.ogg"
"cam_start.ogg"
"cam_stop.ogg"
"Volume_controll.ogg"

Please visit my site and drop a donation if you like my work !

New in 1.4:

based on “ALF6” Firmware

Take photo by pressing AND holding POWER-KEY until you feel the vibration, then release button. Unfortunately the Power-menu apears but photo is saved.

BURST shot mode (continious 20 pics AND Best photo) by only pressing “Menu” button (capacitive button) once

minor changes in smali-files.

New in 1.35

  • new feature: during video now you can take photos by pressing the capacitive "menu" button"
  • New "SamsungCamera.apk" based on the newest firmware "XXALF2"
  • CWM Flash file added ! you can easily flash the file with CWM recovery

New in Vers. 1.3:

  • Start Video-recording with Vol.UP (or virtual key) and Pause Video recording with Vol. Down AND RESUME video with vol. UP again !!! Finally STOP recording by pressing the virtual key !

So i´m proudly presenting my first MOD for the GALAXY S3:
I noticed a little bug in version 1.21, so here my new vers. 1.25:

- refocus + focus-LOCK press "menu"
- Volume Up: refocus + Shot Photo
- Volume down - DIRECT shot without refocusing ! You can shoot instandly so many photos as you want by pressing the key very fast (3-4 pics/sec.)
- Complete SILENCE camera except "volume DOWN" fast - mode

New in vers. 1.2

- Now you can instandly shoot photos by pressing Vol. Up/down without refocus object !!
- Press "Menu" button (capacitive button) to focus an object AND it will remain focused until you shoot an photo OR refocus again
- COMPLETE Silence Camera (even without touch-focus sound)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Battery mod / start Camera below 15 %
- Start camera while on CALL
- "VOLUME DOWN/UP" to shot a photo
- 192 kbit @ 48khz for all resolutions

New in Vers. 1.1:
1080p superfine: 30 Mbit / fine: 24 Mbit / normal = 19 Mbit

720p superfine: 19 Mbit / fine: 15 Mbit / normal: 10 Mbit

Old vers. 1.0:
Battery mod / start Camera below 15 %
- Start camera while on CALL
- "VOLUME DOWN/UP" to shot a photo
- 21 Mbit on 1080p recording
- 192 kbit @ 48khz for all resolutions

If you have allready a custom rom installed: replace original SamsungCamera.apk in system\app\ with this one using e.g. "Root explorer" or something...
You need a rooted Device !
other then that on Stock Rom delete or move SamsungCamera.apk AND SamsungCamera.odex from system\app\ folder....
Then simply insert the SamsungCamera.apk and set the permissions.
Finally restart.

Next i want to add the ability to use FLASH when battery is under 15 %, also what neggs me is the fact that when you use the "volume up/down" key to shoot a photo, it will refocus the object, even when it´s allready in focus.... But the most anoying thing is the nervouse Autofocus mode every 2 sec. ....... it would be perfect if: ones you have "touched to focus an object" it mustn´t refocus again.

The first two mods are allready excisting for other phones, but i have to understand and research the the line which i have to edit..... so PLESE help me with these mods, .... help me searching the modded AND original Camera-files in which these MODs are allready included !
Thanks !

Hello HiperX, i allways had your camera Mod´s for my S3 from the Note 2, but now i have the Galaxy s4 (i9506) that its much the same as the Note 3 except of the +1RAM more.
The are XDA members that already have copied the SamsungCamera2.apk from the Note 3 to the Galaxy s4 9506 and all seems to work except the filters and the frontfacing camera with BeautyFace activated.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681742

Do you think you could try something to make it work ? It would be perfect:good:
Best regards

works with t999l?

I'm new to S3. Loaded 4.3 stock rom + injected root. Staying stock for now. Does the camera mod work for my phone? I use the stock and third party camera apps. T999L.

Knackered my SIII i9300 :(

Hey everyone. Yeah, like the title suggests, I was keen to try this mod and I'm guessing maybe it's not compatible with (any OS based on 4.4 KitKat)? because I recently installed CyanogenMod 11-M4 for GalaxyS3International (i9300), which is a 'SNAPSHOT' build. It's full title is:
"cm-11-20140308-SNAPSHOT-M4-i9300.zip"

Then booted into ClockworkModRecovery and installed the cam-mod ZIP file, used ClockworkModRecovery to reboot device, and now stuck at a CyanogenMod booting screen (with spinning logo and familiar CM android face motif).

I've left it for about 5 minutes, not getting anywhere. Tried pulling the battery, still no better.

Obviously I've rushed into this and I'm now without a phone to use which is quite bad obviously!

Can anyone advise what to do next? (I used TitaniumBackup, to backup the original camera app which came with CyanogenMod), which is sitting on my external SD card. I'm guessing going into ClockworkModRecovery and doing something there would be the next step but don't want to risk doing something to make it worse. I'm in deep now :-S silly me.

Hope someone is able to help. :(

Still frustrated with this.. Im quite disappointed that trying to replace a camera app could fundamentally cripple an OS and bring it to it's knees.
Why is this package/zip made in such a way? I presumed (maybe foolishly) that CWM might flag up a compatibility issue before letting me install it if it wasnt compatible --- that would be the logical thing to do! I dont understand. Its not like Im trying to even do something risky like flash an entire OS.

Edit/Update:
Hi guys, I'm wondering if anyone can help with my problem as I'm still stuck.

Following someone's advice on the CyanogenMod forums, I decided to wipe device/factory reset using ClockworkModRecovery. I also deleted/wiped cache, and wiped/deleted Davlik cache.

Supposedly, this returns your phone to it's 'stock' state, with whatever OS was loaded onto it. But after doing those things I'm still stuck at the CyanogenMod logo with spinning arrow/circle graphic. It won't boot.
Tried taking out extra SD card and battery, turning off, on after leaving 1 minute. Nothing. Am I buggered??

@SkEvol if you read carefoully what is written on first post you can notice that the mod is compatible ONLY with stock rom. And yes if you try to push something not designed for stock on CM it can happen like this.
Basically until the phone boot you can make something to solve the problem. Try to reflash your rom without wiping or at least try to only wipe system partition.

Flash the CM Rom again after wiping /system and factory reset inside CWM Recovery.

This MOD Does Not Work On Stock 4.3 Based ROMs!

The phone would not even boot up.
Do not try on 4.3 based builds.

Tested ROMs - Android Revolution HD , S4 Revolution V12
