Hi there,

My sensation reboots when i use stock camera app with flash. Without flash its just fine.

Same behavior on my gf's sensation. Existing after flash to Android 4.1.x and still persistent after downgrade to 2.3 or 4.0 stock or any other customrom.

Is this a Hardware issue?

I have read of a similiar issue. Phone rebooted when using flash. That user said his battery was dying, it got inflated. Check if your battery is inflated or try a different battery if you can. This happens because the battery is weak and doesn't provide enough power for flash. Good luck!

Same here
I wipe everything then re install the Rom then I test the camera with flash and I didn't have a reboot
That should help you :)

For future users who find this thread, the reason that replacing the battery helps is because the dying battery can't handle the increase power draw of the flash.

Think of a car battery. When you crank the engine the radio usually goes off because the 12 Volt car battery drops to 10 Volts during engine cranking due to the extreme power draw needed for the engine. Your car radio is an electronic device that requires 12 Volts to run. If it dips below that it can't function so it goes off just like you pulled the plug on it. When engine cranking is over the battery can deliver 12 Volts to the radio again and it comes back on.

Same thine with teh camera flash. The Flash draws too much power off the battery and the total voltage delivered to the phone is below the minimum threashold to keep the power powered on. With a fresh battery it's strong enough to surive the increase draw of the flash.

Thanks for the explanation!
Since I've got my sensation I've facing this issue (at taking a photo with flash the phone reboots... without flash all is normal).... Issue ONLY in the stock camera.

I've tried with PicsArt camera and at taking a photo with flash the phone DOESN'T reboots, also with CamScanner camera.
¿Why only in stock camera app? ¿Is the stock camera catch more power with flash?

Simple questions.... But definitely a battery change is essential :)

This issue happens to me with Stock ROM and Vipers 1.6.3 (actual).
The vipers is installed by second time.

Maybe the stock camera spikes the CPU usage as well, causing it to overpower the battery. That'd just a guess though

I had the same problem with camera, but first on the original battery the phone reboots in various cases. Then helped me solution from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXR7Ra3f2LU
I bought battery from the model XE (1850mha) and for a while it was ok. However, I started to overclock my phone and that was the problem. Using standard kernel or custom with setup like in stock everything is ok, overclocking and undervolt problems begin. Currently I have a CM11 with sultan kernel, -25v udnervolted with 1180mhz, S2W on, 589MB ram, and sail like crazy.

maybe it's not a great discovery, but I think might be useful 4 someone :)
