I am using this mod on my T-Mobile note 3. Running rooted SD stock NB4. Can mod works as it did with my Sprint note 3. Great work!

I made my own camera mod with a UHD 96 mbs bit rate and 256 Kbs audio.
Unfortunately, the recording video size is still limited to 4 GB.

Credits: most of the information I needed to make my own modded app were found in this thread.

Here are my observations about the video quality of the Note 3:
- the upgrade to 4.4.2 has increased the video quality
- each individual frame of the video is as good (or as bad) as single photograph
- I don't see compressions artifacts (e.g water color effect on grass and leaves)
- the videos I recorded look sharper than video samples recorded from a Panasonic GH4 (downloaded from a page of the German video aktiv magazine- url removed )
- the videos I recorded look slightly sharper that the movie Timescapes (UHD USB stick edition, about 95 mbs, url removed)
- in low light situations, there is noise but the video still looks OK, IMO. I haven't compared my videos to other low light UHD videos.

I have made only one comparison between the stock camera app with 48 mbs and the modded with 96 mbs. The two videos were taken in a wood with plenty of sunlight and almost no moving objects. I did not see a difference in picture quality. I have not tested if having more moving objects or if a low light condition would differentiate the two video bit rates. On the other hand , a 10 mbs recording of the same scene looks really bad.

Testing procedure: pause the video in the video player, zoom to 1:1 I am using a 27 inch monitor with a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels.

PS: I would gladly provide a link to download my modded camera apk but this is my first post and I cannot provide URL's in this post
The 4gb limit is global on 4.4.2 unfortunately. Back in 4.3 it was limited by the camera apk.

Wow, quite amazed that out "little" note 3 stacks up to the GH4! Haven't watched Timescapes because the size is too big haha.

I've noticed that at 48mbit the video does get a bit blocky in skies but at 65mbit above it is clean.

I think you have to get a minimum of (10?) posts before links are allowed.

It should work because my 4.4.2 mod is based on the global Note 3 (snapdragon). Thanks :)

Another comparison: search youtube for this:
Galaxy NOTE 3 versus 5D Mark III - 4K in a cell phone!

Sorry I cannot post URL yet.

Someone is actively porting the S5 cam over at the global N3 subforum here but you have to run the ported S5 rom to use it.

I saw that video yesterday and it blew my mind!

Do the 4.3 unlimited size camera works with a 4.4.2 rom?

I don't want to lose the ability to record unlimited size videos from my last rom.

Was using an old xnote 4.3 with the unlimited size mod, moved to 4.4.2 and wanted to recover the ability to record more than 4gb back, but if its a system limit, welp.

i have already option to take 4k pics and videos and 60fps 1080p so is it going to change anything on 4.4.2 (XEO ND3)?

Steps:
1. Download the zip (choose one you like according to 4GB file size or Unlimited for exFat cards)
2. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT FLASH THE ZIP (GO TO STEP 3!!!!!)
3. Rename it to SamsungCamera2.apk
4. Use es file explorer to drag it to /system/app and overwrite the SamsunCamera2.apk that's there (or rename the original to SamsungCamera2.bak then copy it over)
5. Set permissions to rw-r-r
6. IF and ONLY IF you see SamsungCamera2.odex delete it (this will only work if you do this now granted I'm not sure if it causes problems with odexed roms or not or if it will cause a bootloop)
7. Reboot
8. Good to go
Hi,
I did all of this, but after reboot there is no camera on the device.
Can anybody help me?
Using n9005 stock.

Thanks.
