Thanks for this Mod, It works perfectly on my Stock MJ1 rooted Rogers rom 900W8.
I tested a few of the APKs.

BTW, Is there any way you could increase the Audio bitrate for 1080p and 4K to 192kbs?
Also, If you could raise the 1080p bitrate from 17mbs to 24mbs?

Did you also change the photo quality to 100 percent?

Good work BTW :good:

Apks....(standalone)
Link: http://kevinrocksman.com/?dir=alexhc18/Mods/Camera/Apks

Steps:
1. Download the zip (choose one you like according to 4GB file size or Unlimited for exFat cards)
2. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT FLASH THE ZIP (GO TO STEP 3!!!!!)
3. Rename it to SamsungCamera2.apk
4. Use es file explorer to drag it to /system/app and overwrite the SamsunCamera2.apk that's there (or rename the original to SamsungCamera2.bak then copy it over)
5. Set permissions to rw-r-r
6. IF and ONLY IF you see SamsungCamera2.odex delete it (this will only work if you do this now granted I'm not sure if it causes problems with odexed roms or not or if it will cause a bootloop)
7. Reboot
8. Good to go

Thanks ALEXHC18 and kevinrocksman.

First flashed the CameraModInstallerV2.zip with CWM but lost my Camera icon.
Then i have Flashed it with TWRP no result, Then flashed the CameraModInstallerV1.zip.
And that not worked.

But with the standalone .apk works perfectly
the 4GB 100Mbit.
I have followed your instruction ,and i have my camera icon back.

My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the international model SM-N9005 ( Snapdragon )
with stock rom

Thank you for this work.
Unfortunalety it doesn't work for me, video and audio bitrate doesn't change, it's the same as stock camera. I've tried Aroma, in V2 the camera app doesn't appear, in V1 the camera app is there, but no changes with bitrates, the same with apk files. The only thing that i noticed, is the file naming of photos and videos changed to "yyyy.MM.dd_hh.mm.ss". Maybe i'm doing something wrong?

I'm using SM-N9002 (China Unicom).

that would be for your sound... 288Kbps, look for bitrate
oh ok, gotcha. thanks!

try to check with VLC media player

I used the 50bitrate version 4GB

and stereo sound, 48000Hz

also a nice thing, no shutter sound..
thanks bro! i use VLC, just wasn't looking at the right information. forgot VLC has more details.

EDIT: So yeah, the unlimited 100mb does not work for at&t. I just checked the statistics in VLC and the bitrate was around 19,000 give or take. Trying the 100mb 4Gb version now.

make sure it's set to 4K... because 1080P is around 17/19000 bitrate

first thing you notice when you make a photo, you will not hear a shutter sound
others things you should test for yourself ;)

I have major issues recording and playing back 4k video on my device. Keeps force closing and crashing any ideas

You can use MX Player for your phone. It plays 4K video without any issues. Download the latest VLC to watch 4K on your computer.

100mb/Unlimited is working beautifully on my AT&T Galaxy Note 3. I just need to update my VLC player to the latest in order to playback 4K recording. I was able to record a 2.37Gb (00:06:46) without any lag or issues.

I used the OP's instructions, but I will list what I did in more detail for people who are having trouble understanding.

1) Download any of the APK's

2) Rename the APK to SamsungCamera2.apk (Originally it is a .zip file, so in order for you to change it from .zip to .apk, use 7zip program. Double click/Open the .zip and you will see inside a bunch of folders (assets, com, META-INF, res, etc. Now, just click the little folder icon with a green arrow pointing up (this is located at the top next to the file location (C:\Users\Folder\Folder\Folder\SamsungCamera2.zip). Now that you are here, you will see all the files and folders that your .zip has been downloaded to. Here is where you just click to rename the .zip part and change it to .apk. So now you will see it as SamsungCamera2.apk.

3) Move SamsungCamera2.apk to your sdcard on your phone

4) Open RootExplorer on your phone and navigate to the sdcard location where you placed the new SamsungCamera2.apk. (My sdcard location is mnt/extsdcard/SamsungCamera2.apk)

5) Hold your finger on the SamsungCamera2.apk within your sdcard and select "Move" or "Copy" whichever you prefer - move will obviously move it out of the sdcard permanently to the new location instead of just leaving a copy there.

6) Navigate back up to Parent Folder until you get to the main ROOT folder and find system/app folder. This is where the original apk is located.

7) At the top click the "Mount R/W" button so it becomes "Mount R/O"

8) Now scroll all the way down and find the current SamsungCamera2.apk. You will see the apk and the odex file if haven't made any changes yet. Rename both those files by just adding a ".bak" at the end so it will read SamsungCamera2.apk.bak and SamsungCamera2.odex.bak.

9) Now click the "Move here" or "Copy here" button at the top so that you can move the new SamsungCamera2.apk from the sdcard to system/app

10) Now hold the new apk to bring up the menu for it and click permissions (The 1st row "READ" should have all 3 boxes checked. The 2nd row "Write" should only have the top box checked; the middle and last box unchecked. The 3rd row "Execute" should have no boxes checked). This brings your total to only 4 boxes checked. This will change the permissions of the file to match the system files as "rw-r-r--"

11) Now you can click the "Mount R/O" button at the top to return it to "Mount R/W."

12) Reboot your phone and you are set.

Can confirm apk is working for SM-N9005 international version. 100mbs unlimited. Works fine.

However, the recovery aroma installer DOES NOT WORK. It just makes Camera disappear.

I am out of a laptop or computer at the moment. . Anyway you can just post the apk or inbox it to me? If the developer has no objections..

i just installed the apk version on my N9005 and so far everything works.
@kevinrocks can you check with your filehoster, because if i download it on mobile, the file is only 56kb every time i try to download it. On PC it works just fine and the file size is correct too

Now i have a question. does that look about right?

I installed 100MB Unlimited. And thats what i got: Screenshot of VLC Information of video.
vlc.jpg

Another short question, what is the difference between 4GB and Unlimited? is that the filesize? 4GB creates a maximum of 4gb and unlimited until my memory is full?
