Question Camera performance

I just discovered in a video comparison of the S21U vs. iPhone 13 that the S21U is supposed to have a Portrait Video mode. Unfortunately, I can't find this functionality in my stock camera app (Model G9980).

Weird, it's not in my camera app. Which S21U variant do you have? What's the version no. of your stock camera app? Mine is 11.0.03.24.

Thx, that's right! I thought this one is about video recording in portrait orientation (instead of landscape) because that is what the German translation in the app suggests. It's a misleading translation from Samsung.
Maybe you already know this but just in case someone doesn't, I noticed that the best video settings for Exynos version in samsung camera app are 4k/8k with 30/60 fps and the ratio set to Full. If you set the ratio to 16:9 or 1:1, the video is less sharp and with more heavy processing. The difference is really noticeable especially when using the ultra wide lens in low light. It's a bit more noise sure but the image seems sharper.
This way you are cropping the video. It might look sharper, because it is actually zoomin in the original video file
Funnily enough, when testing on my own phone, I'm forced to FHD (1080p) resolution when switching to "Full" ratio
Disabling the "AI Enhancer" thingie on the lower right corner disables unnecessary processing on pets and the end result is better and takes less time. With it enabled it's next to impossible to take a sharp photo of my dog. At noon. Outside.

15Now a much better macro pic of my eye. There was a bright light source in front of me, so I had to take exposure down, improve details, etc in snapseed. Anyway, awesome details. Macro camera is amazing!

14I don't play with post processing much these days, but AD Photoshop/LR on the mobile is surprisingly good, this is going to be printed to acrylic plate at somepoint.
The dynamic range of the S21U really is quite something, even jpgs allows for post processing to the exact temperature 'look' you want.
The depth and general tone of pictures the S21 U is able to capture really did use to be only possible on 'proper' camera systems, even the x10 lens produces half decent efforts in post.
Add in the fact the entire work flow is possible on the phone, so no peeking on the back of a LCD camera screen, no faff with uploading to a laptop, no LR library to manage, no need to worry about backup due to the cloud, am pretty sure I can also send these file direct to Photobox/Snapfish or similar for large format printing all from the phone.......
From a purely a photography point of view, the S21 U is outstanding, there is no other way to put it.
