can a patched switch be reverted to original firmware

Hello all! if there is a pre existing thread for this i would be more than grateful for a push in the right direction but i checked and could not find anything related. i have just purchased a switch today 2-14-20 and im holding off on connecting it to the internet to avoid firmware updates that will prevent jailbraking the device, my question is: is it possible to back up the original firmware so i can update to use the e store but if i decide later to jailbrake i can revert back or is it once updated the device is patched forever? any information is appreciated thanks!

If you don't burn the efuses then yes you can restore the backup and it would boot which would mean never updating ofw and only updating emunand with fuse burn prevention on.
