Can I unlock and root the Pixel 3 (Fi and Google store versions)?

Thanks, I am either going to get a new one from Google Fi store, or pick up a used one on Swappa. I assume as long as it has the E Sim, it will be unlock able?

I'd be real cautious on swappa. I may be wrong but I think the Verizon, unlockable version, still has an esim. If you do use swappa you want to make sure what you buy is bootloader unlockable. Not that it's just unlocked, which means it'll work on all carriers. All pixels are carrier unlocked. I've seen a number of users who thought they were buying an unlocked phone and didn't realize that it was carrier unlocked and not bootloader unlocked.

Ask for the first two numbers of the IMEI. If it's 99 it's bl unlockable. If it's 35 look elsewhere. But even so make sure you have it in writing somewhere.

After reading all the poor reception complaints, that SOME owners are experiencing, I might just look into a Pixel 2.
