Yes, but if the charger is configured for Apple devices (2.* v on the data pins. #GottaBeDifferent), the phone will "charge" ( at ~100 mA input), but slowly.

Your best bet is to get an Anker charger with Smart IQ charging. It will charge the phone as fast as the phone will allow.

I bought an Aukey QC 2.0 wall charger from Amazon. It takes my Nexus 5 from 10% charge to 100% in about an hour and a half. Sorry I can't post a link but I'm new here.

The Aukey QC 2.0 car chargers work just as fast. My Nexus 5 is rooted and running the latest Google image.
