I went into the metro pcs store and tried to hook up the note 3 from Verizon he told me that if I did not have my two year contract paid off through Verizon that the note 3 would be locked and he would not be able to hook it up. Has anyone heard of this? He said that because of the two year contract Verizon has something in the phone where if you don't pay it off and they can completely lock the phone?!?

I've never heard of that, although, last year someone got my google password and bought themselves a $500 4g nexus tablet with my account. i contacted google and told them that it was not me, and they determined that it wasn't, and asked me if they could have my permission to remotely lock the device. i consented of course, and as far as i know, they did, so it may be possible.

he may have also just used the wrong terminology and may have meant that verizon will disable your cell/data service, which i know they will do after too long without a payment.

they block the imei on working on other carriers. Usually this is going to happen on T-Mobile phones. But Verizon, att and sprint are more lenient and have not resorted to this solution to the extent T-Mobile has.
