That wasn't the question. The question, as posed, was would it work? It absolutely will work with speeds up to HSPA+.
Yes it will work with any GSM carrier, but not any carrier will have good internet speed, that's my point. If topic starter can choose, he needs to see in this point too. For that point I changed my straight talk to T Mobile.

you can technically use any service with a sim card. however since iys a vzw phone on a tmo network you might have some issues with things such as lte not working but it all really depends.. the sgs 5 is a world capable phone which has the ability to work on different frequencies and networks and verizon s5 is already readily available to work on other networks

No. Google it and you will find that Verizon and tmobile networks are different. Verizon is CDMA and tmobile is GSM. Or something like that.

You are 100% wrong my friend. The Verizon Galaxy S5 is a "World" Phone and unlike the s3 , the s5 can actually use GSM 3G networks (have tested with a T-Mobile Straight Talk sim)
The only thing you'll have to change is your APN settings through the android phone settings and google hangout settings (if you use google hangouts) to the APN that the network you are trying to use requires.

Can you send/receive sms fine? What about picture messages?
Yes, just edit the APN for the right MMS settings

The only thing I could not get working is VoLTE. My guess is because of a baseband/modem from VZW does not allow it on TMO for now. Good news is that VZW S5 natively does VoLTE on VZW network (at least here in NYC).
If VoLTE is important on tmobile get the tmobile variant to flash the right radios without bricking your phone.

I just got a refurbished galaxy s5 on E-bay that advertised as UNLOCKED GSM which is what i wanted cuz I wanted to stay with Cricket. The phone turned out to be a Verizon phone which I I took to Cricket and they were able to set it up pretty easily for me with the sim card out of my s3. But now there are some things im wondering about. I keep having a notification that Sim card is not Verizon sim card. And there's still a lot of verizon stuff on the phone. I prefer the layout of Verizon messaging app that came on the phone but can't recieve or send pics mssgs with it. At the top of the phone it says AT&T. And instead of sayin 4G like my galaxy s3 always did, it says H or H+. Internet seems slower on the s5 too. Is there a way to fix this?
