My mistake on the other forum, if you read my comment I told the Mods to delete that thread

Weird, I was on the belief that if it was the same architecture it would work? how positive are you on this?
Yes the 9500 is Chinese unlockable bootloader. and the u is US with locked bootloader. I mean you might be able to possibly flash the US. But if in far stretch it ever worked you would be blowing qfuses and locking bootloader essentially still ruining the device still. What carrier would you try to take this too. As it may not even work with any or all carriers.

Oh your going the other way. No no no. As you have a locked bootloader the keys used to sign are completely different and even of you force flash you will brick possibly unrecoverable just as I did testing the 9500 keys.

Basically I want to buy a 9500 and load a different ROM on it, so I thought the 950U could be a good choice, but if not any other alternatives? Wondering how well it will work with T-Mobile on the stock 9500 firmware too

What if one flashes G950-U firmware(AP+CSC+MODEM) minus the bootloader onto G9500? That way, in theory one can have unlocked bootloader and US carrier features? Since both are Snapdragon based devices, the hardware *should be* identical with a small chance of modem might be different to accommodate Chinese/HK bands.

You could try extract the cache.img.ext4 from the US HOME_CSC tar and extract all files from the HOME_CSC of the N9500...replace the cache.img with the US cache.img.ext4 (rename to cache.img) and then tar ball all the files (US cache.img with rest of extracted N9500 files)...then flash with Prince Comsy's Odin...all that is in there is the omc directory...I did this with the N950F HOME_CSC on my N950U1....if that fails for you...extract the sec.omc.zip from the cache.img and put on SD card and boot to recovery and choose apply update from sd....I did this also with bootloader V2...but bootloader V3 would not do it for another....
