Man, I'm not going to flash anything yet until someone has done it and gives proof. But if one were to try what this guy claims, would there be a chance it may work? As i understand, boot-loader unlock is only for custom roms... but would LG G4 roms from other variants still be considered as 'custom' in this aspect?
Cross flashing firmware or bootloader gives you a high risk of hard brick your device.
It may work and it may not. Even if it works it may have site effects no one knows. It can increase your ARB which makes it impossible to go back leaving you with a possible unusable device. Well you can replace your mainboard to got back but fuses are physical blown and nothing can revert this.

Note:
The member big badass is known to trick ppl and was blocked for at least 2 times in the past bc of his behavior of misleading ppl. Unfortunately this is not enough as we can see today.

You have helped me very much. Thanks.

So for that, I am going through all your posts on this forum and pressing thanks button on each and every one of them :highfive::good::cool:

Guys i noticed something very strange...

When I temove the back cover for the phone, directly above the Flash, it says "H810". To the right of the speaker is a secondary H810 label... can you guys also check yours and see if you also have it??

If its common to all, could it mean our variant is just a repackaged H810 ??

My H812 has the same marking as you described above. I'm guessing they share the same plastic frame as the H810.

It has no relation at all to the internal components or firmware installed. It appears to be what ever is on hand at the time of the model's production run - it is common to see this across different models from what I understand. The ONLY determining factor is what is stamped on your motherboard - and the only way to ascertain that is to open the phone up and check what is actually stamped on the motherboard.

If you have actually installed and used steadfasterX's SALT tool to backup your phone partitiond, you will notice that the GPT Compatability is noted as H811 for the H812. There is a reason for this ... see post # 542 and # 543 in the FWUL thread.

Ok thanks I will definitely do a salt backup:good:

Dont all G4 variants have the same hardware besides the motherboard?

Anyways.. I get the point.. It has to do with the component manufacturers... same people who make back covers for the h810 probably ship it here too...

Hey for those of you who have the H812 and have rooted using steadfasterX's UsU, and have installed the v29A official Nougat rom for your G4. Can you check and see if the FM Radio apk is installed and if it works (assuming your sound is also working)? I see that it's included in the system image in the zip, but haven't had a chance to unlock using UsU myself.

I'll stand corrected on this if proven otherwise but my understanding is the V29A official Nougat rom was ported only to the H815 and H818P. The GPT compatability for the H812 in SALT is for H811 roms. It is possible perhaps that it could be done but my understanding it would require some partition modifications and the risk of a hard brick could show an exponential rise.

Additional consideration perhaps: steadfasterX in his bootloader unlock thread has repeated 3 times, the following:

Do not flash any KDZ / TOTs or any ROM containing a bootloader stack (like v29a pure does) ! You WILL loose unlock and may hard-hard-brick your device (at least HARD BRICK)!

Ah sorry for not being clear on my first post. As sdembiske states above DO NOT flash any KDZ or full stock rom from LG after unlocking using USU.

What I was referring to is the zip that steadfasterX posted in the UsU thread FAQ item 16 which states for any model, any ARB. I see from the UsU thread many H812 users have flashed this and have mixed results with performance of sound, video and cell service.

No problem - understood now. I hadn't followed the link in the FAQ for the relevant post.

If you haven't already, maybe post it to his bootloader unlock thread for any H812 owners that might have given that particular one a shot or ask steadfasterX directly for h812 members that might have tested it for him or whoever developed it.

Hi ReeS86. I am also wanting that FM radio.I think they have to "port" H815 roms for the H811 ( H811 has the same GPT compatibility as H812)...
:)

Bro, do you think its possible to port a H815 rom for H811 (but smooth enough to work flawlessly on the H812)????

Also, do you know how to check the antirollback of a stock based non-kdz ROM?? I found steadfasterx's guide here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73950915&postcount=109

But that is only for KDZ, which is useless after USU unlock.

Thanks:)

It seems that the issues with the stock LG Nougat v29 are because users had accidentally flashed the wrong zip which contained the full N bootstack for the H815 that appears to cause issues with the H812. Hey @doomanix , you noted in the UsU thread that you were able to get the LG v29A Nougat rom working right? Can you try and see if the FM radio app works as intended? I'm guessing it won't since most of the firmware other than kernel, drivers and system image are still the original H812 ones.

Hi ReeS86... I found this H815 rom that's been ported for the H811...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...g4-h811-global-sim-unlocked-rom-v1-0-t3167672

If it doesnt work, steadfasterx said salt v4 will support flashing KDZ files. So bro, what you can do is flash H815 International Nougat KDZ. :)

This looks like the guy to ask re: the FM app. Refer to post # 249 by doomanix in steadfasterX's thread. He's an H812 owner with the rom in question.

Post your question to him there ...

Got the mention @ReeS86. FM app works; doesn't force close or anything and will scan for channels with the headphones plugged in but I don't get any sound. (sound works for the ROM just not the FM app)

Phone automatically rebooting...

Hi guys:
It has come to my attention lately that my device is not functioning as it used to. I've been experiencing lagging and sometimes the phone would freeze or suddenly and randomly reboot itself even while running non CPU intensive tasks. It only reboots once at a time, unlike the bootloop issue however. I've experienced 2 sudden reboots in the past 2 weeks or so.

CPU and RAM usage is normal.. Didnt install any resource intensive apps lately... I cleared cache, replaced the battery, but it suddenly rebooted once after all that too....

Any help please?
