CANBUS WORKING intermittently

My Kannor Px5 CANBUS doesn't work sometimes with wheel keys.
It has been working properly around a year. One hot summer day I entered the car and head unit started smelling burned. Since then CANBUS worked intermittently.

I was using Kanor original Rom. I also installed Hal9 rom and update mcu to newer versions but the result is absolutely random, I can't figure out what causes the problem. Even sometimes after a clean rom installation works perfect but then after some days or some launcher installation (FCC launcher) stops working.
By the way, my car is a Nissan Qashqai j10 and I already tried with several canbus options in mcu options with same result.

Any help will be appreciated, it's really uncomfortable driving and using radio at the same time without using wheel buttons.

It's a hardware problem probably a bad connection or solder joint. First check the wiring then open the HU and look around you might see some discoloration on the PCB since you smelled burning. Just redo the solder. If you see nothing just touch up the solder on large pins and be careful not to create a solder bridge and short something out. If it still acts up after that check the CANbus adapter PCB.

@nick2k many thanks for your help.

I followed your instructions. Opened HU to check inside and all was fine there, any burn area or decolored part.
I also checked all junctions and connections.. all of them are correctly connected.
I don't use any canbus adapter so it can't cause the issue..
Could be a software problem between Rom and Mcu? I can't guess what happens here. Other ideas..?20191016_190201.jpg20191016_190213.jpg

Have you considered tracing the canbus connections following the MTCD schematic to validate that the can bus signals reach the MCU. If this is above your abilities, suggest finding a local repair shop/electronics tech to assist.

Schematic in my signature.

@marchnz , many thanks, you are absolutely right, it's above my possibilities[emoji3526][emoji16]. Unfortunately in this area true are any specialised android head unit service, anyway I'll will continue investigating by myself.

Of course at this point it could be anything but I thought you said you tried CANbus options did you set it back to what it was originally? Your wheel keys must be using the Key1 Key2 wires find out where they are and wiggle them see if that makes the wheel keys start or stop working.

After doing some tests I discovered that when steering wheel is rotated canbus works properly, instead, when you steering wheel is straight wheel buttons don't work, so I guess I must check wheel buttons connection. I will do it and will update you with more news

From wheel key, and the led light on the unit key stop light and no reverse camera work , I think the canbus dead, the car settings fonction work good from the wheel so I think it's canbus problem key,

It's a steering wheel problem, I already checked installation and all is ok, I also installed original car stereo and the problem is the same so he issue must be in the inner part of the steering wheel, technicians will check it soon. I will let you know

After being checked by car service the problem is in the ear bag ring. The price for changing that part plus service is around 400€. So I will live with it.
In order to find a slution, I'm looking for a bluetooth remote control something with same or similar functionality (check picture)

Suggestions and links are welcome [emoji846]View attachment 4898057

It's likely that you have a broken cable/connection in your clockspring, which is a flexible cable looped around a few times and 'coiled up' which allows the electrical signals to go from the stationary dash, to the rotating steering wheel. You should really get this fixed (or fix it yourself) since it could potentially result in your air bag not working correctly when required.
It's typically quite an easy replacement. You unplug the battery -ve terminal, then start removing things from the steering wheel until you can remove the entire steering wheel. At that point there would be a plastic box with connectors on both the top and bottom of it. You simply disconnect the connectors from the top, remove the old unit, disconnecting the connectors from the bottom whilst you do so.
Then when you install the new clockspring, you make sure it's at the mid-position, connect the bottom connector, screw it in, connect the top connector(s) and then reassemble the steering wheel. There are plenty of youtube videos for it.

Changing the ring ,at least for me, is not a easy issue, and the price of doing it professionally is more than 300€.

Such us airbag is not affected, I decided just to add bluetooth buttons, a cheaper but practice solution. Thanks a lot for all your advices, all of them have been welcome [emoji4]
