Evening all.

I received my OP5 today.

I noticed straight away when I put my sim card in I could only get H+ no 4G.

Sim card works fine with 4G in my OP3.

I done the following:

- Ensured APN was correct
- Ensured preferred network type was 2G/3G/4G
- Choose network operator manually and selected and I choose Vodafone NL 4G it tells me registration complete but no change. It always reverts to Vodafone NL 3G
- Entered *#*#4634#*#* and selected LTE/UMTS auto (PRL) REFRESH UPDATE
- Reset network settings and rebooted phone
- called Vodafone who reset my network settings and told me to retry. No change.
- Raised case with OnePlus support who told me to try another sim card. Tried with KPN and 4G worked. I need to go and tell them it worked but I doubt they can help me.

I've done everything I can think of and I'm now at my wit's end I would appreciate some advice and help here

Thank you!!

Sounds like some LTE band does not working...
Do Vodafon and KPN use the same band for 4G in your location?
If not, then does Vodafon use different bands in different location?
If yes, I would suggest to go to different location and try it there.

Thank you for your reply. I agree that would seem like a band issue but I compared the specs of the OP3 and OP5 with regards to bands and the OP5 supports all the bands of the OP3 plus a lot more so I think this would ensure whatever the OP3 can do the OP5 can definitely do network wise.

According to 4g.nl here are the supported bands:

Frequency Telecom Provider
800 MHz 4G KPN / Vodafone / Tele2
900 MHz 2G / 3G KPN / Vodafone / T-Mobile
1800 MHz 2G / 4G KPN / Vodafone / T-Mobile
2100 MHz 3G KPN / Vodafone / T-Mobile
2600 MHz 4G KPN / Vodafone / T-Mobile / Tele2 / ZUM

I am not sure how accurate that is but it indicates there should be no difference.

I am truly stumped here.

And trying the other sim slot doesn't make a diffrence aswell I gues?

Hmm no idea mate, hope you can fix it !

I have Tele2 and I have no issues with it.

Cheers mate.

All I can think of is that a specific band is not working on the phone as it should and in my area that band is active but a different KPN band is active and that is why I get 4G on the KPN sim.

My main concern is "does my phone have a hardware issue?"

Specs yes, but this particular unit might have some problem with some bands.
I would suggest to test in different location. Say if you are currently in town then go to some rural place and vice versa. (to be sure different bands are used) In rural places it usually lower bands like 800 MHz and in cities upper bands like 2100 MHz.

Another idea, might be UMTS signal is stronger for some reason in your location. Can your force 4G only connection on a phone in provider settings?

Thanks for your advice. I can set the phone in *#*#4634#*#* to LTE only to test.

What is interesting is that when I set this to LTE/UMTS auto (PRL) it always seems to reset back to TD-SCDMA/CDMA/UMTS

I have no idea what this means and why. This is mind boggling.

Same issue here. No 4g only 3g. I have no problems connecting my iPhone to the 4g network with the same Sim card. Let's hope OnePlus can fix this through a software update.

Exactly the same here. Bands are the same between networks, so it really points to software or configuration. Any other ideas are welcome... Let's see who's faster, oneplus or xda :p

As far as I'm aware this affects all 5's on Vodafone NL. I have the same issue and haven't heard a single instance where someone has 4g on Vodafone.

I just spent an hour in the Vodafone store they had no chance of solving this as I knew it was the phone and not the network but it was interesting to see them try hard to solve the issue. At least I know it's got to be a software issue if you guys have the issue too, which is a relief because then it can hopefully be solved via an update and no return hassles necessary. I'm on my way to Germany I'm very curious to see if I get 4G when roaming!!

Wich support?

I contacted Vodafone right now, and they ended the chat also without a "normal" explanation

Oneplus support. It was terrible. There is a legitimate issue here which needs a fix and i wanted to make sure if they weren't aware of this issue that they would be now.

Vodafone support confirmed what I already knew, the issue is with the phone. I'm almost in Germany so it will be interesting to see if I can get 4G there.

4G (and 4G+) I have perfectly in Portugal..

Only the VoLTE I haven't neither with OP5 and OP3
