Cannot mount system as read-write(RO) in Android Marshmallow Moto G3 XT-1550

I am using this with the AGNI Kernel v2.3
I found that I neither able to directly modify build.prop file using app (I need a text editor) nor
I am able to change my screen resolution using apps (for e.g. NOmone Resolution Changer ,UI Tuner etc.)
Does this somewhere relate to not getting read-write permissions for /system ? (I tried ES File Explorer,ADB and Mount/system RO/RW.)

I had this same issue, boot on TWRP go to the mounting section and enable the r/w check box
