Can't get our of secure fail: kernel

Hello All,

Trying to fix a S5 for a cousin. Not sure what she did exactly but the only think I get get the phone to display is the initial boot with a lock that looks unlocked and then it goes to Start up Failed with red secure fail: kernel on the top left.

I've tried getting it into download mode or any mode with lots of the tutorials i've found on here and other sites with no luck. The only other response I've seen is what looks like a brief flash of a white line about 15 from the top of the screen.

Would be amazing for any of your help. I've downloaded Odin and the stock kernal but can't get into download mode at all.

have you tried booting into recovery mode and clearing the cache/data or doing a factory reset that way?

I can't get into recovery or download mode. At the most I can get it to flash the white line real quick and then shows startup screen for a second with a lock that is unlocked and then goes to the secure fail.

I'll try a few more times and sometimes I know the recovery / download button combinations can be a little temperamental.

yeah not a problem if you still cant get it to work try taking it into a bestbuy they usually have samsung reps there with the means to help you and they wont charge you anything for it just make sure you have the time and youre not in a rush because it seems like this issue might take awhile
