Can't send or receive photos/attachments on phab 2 pro messages app

I cannot seem to be able to send it receive any attachments through the messages app. When trying to send, it just sits there saying "Sending". And when someone send me an attachment, it says "downloading" but doesn't ever.

Does someone have a solution?
