Hello chaps,

I've just got a new laptop with Vista Ultimate on it,. and I can't for the life of me find a way of syncing the Orbit 2 with it. It basically just doesn't do *anything* when I plug it in. It's not the cable - I've tried the same cable on my TomTom and that works fine. I've installed / reinstalled Windows Mobile Device Centre, changed the USB-PC settings to not enable advanced features, rebooted loads of times, and still it doesn't get picked up! The phone is charging, so I know it is getting through, if you see what I mean!

Just windows doesn't go "beep beep" when I plug this in, but does for everything else!

Any ideas I can try, chaps? Without having to resort to XP! :-(

go to setting > connections and uncheck USB TO PC and try to connect again
Thanks for the reply, but as mentioned before, I've already done that. Just to clarify - in Settings, Connections on my Orbit 2 there is an option for USB to PC, in which there is one checkbox for "Enable advanced network functionality". I've unchecked that, and still no joy. I've rebooted both machines, and still no luck.

I'm at my wits end with this!!!

Oh, and I didn't mention before, but I've tried connecting with the Windows Firewall off, and still nothing. It's not actually coming up with anything at all; yet the same cable and phone works fine with my work's laptop - Windows XP.

Please - can anyone help!?!

Cheers,

MrP.

I am having the same exact issue with my HTC 8525 on vista and can not get an answer from anyone either. This is very frustrating.

I GOT IT WORKING! I'm so happy! :)

To cut a long story short, it was my cable. I've recently moved from a desktop machine to a laptop, and I accidentally used the cable which was supplied with my 4 port USB hub. They look exactly alike, but I've literally just found the other one, and it was in a place which made me think that I'd not been using the cable I'd always used for synching with my old machine!

So I replaced the cables, and lo and behold it worked straight away.

That's all I can suggest - make sure that the PC-USB enhanced facility is turned off on your phone, and try different cables!

Hope this helps, Rob - let us know how you get on.
