Thank you so much.I got the car mode stub pre installed on my phone. I really appreciate your help. It was buggy at first but later on it was good.Ok, here's what I got installing it. One is the app, the other is some remote installer? Carmodestub.apk has always been in my stock based rom prior to installing, not sure if it's required for Carmode to work but I'm including it anyway just in case.
No problem, glad to help.Thank you so much.I got the car mode stub pre installed on my phone. I really appreciate your help. It was buggy at first but later on it was good.![]()
You know you can just edit your build prop to n5 then download from Sammy store. The s6 edge car mode is different as well if you want that oneThank you so much.I got the car mode stub pre installed on my phone. I really appreciate your help. It was buggy at first but later on it was good.![]()
Thanks for and info. I still don't see it in my Galaxy app store, so I downloaded your provided APK. However, when I run the app, it tells me there is a new version of Car Mode and I need to update to continue (see attached), then dumps me out.At first, I also couldn't find Car Mode in GALAXY Apps (UAE) so I called Samsung support and they said they would look into the problem and make it compatible with my device. I thought it's just another generic response, but less than 24 hours Car Mode re-appeared in GALAXY Apps with a slightly updated version number. You can download the APK file from the attachments. This version (3.xxx) is actually great for driving, and much improved from the Galaxy S5 (v0.1xxx) or even S6 (v2.xxxx). It is feature-rich now. It can work with HERE Maps which are more reliable and work offline, and can get location information from your contacts and calendar events (amazing feature) so you can easily select a person or event instead of searching the map. It stores the recent destinations just like a normal car navigation, and can also be configured to ask you if you want to save the parking location when you exit the car mode.

It's most probably because of the different ROM. I live in the UAE, and use XSG (open/unlocked) ROM. If you use a carrier device, you'll always get different things here or there. I am not sure you can flash other Samsung ROM's if you use USA carrier devices (different model numbers from the international version SM-N920C). However, just like I mentioned in the beginning of my post, you can contact Samsung and ask them to make it available. They did this in my case (or maybe it was just a lucky coincidence). Thanks for and info. I still don't see it in my Galaxy app store, so I downloaded your provided APK. I did end up contacting Samsung. By the end of the day is was back in my app store, available to download. Not sure if its another coincidence, but it now works. You can also try a direct link to the app in GALAXY App store, like this(change SM-N920C to your model number)Code:http://www.samsungapps.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.sec.android.automotive.drivelink&equipID=SM-N920C
Good. I think we should (cautiously) give Samsung credit for their responsive support.I did end up contacting Samsung. By the end of the day is was back in my app store, available to download. Not sure if its another coincidence, but it now works. Thanks again.
How do I get to the original downloaded APK? I searched the phone and only found CarmodeStub (that comes preloaded) and CarModeRemote, both of which are only a few hundred kb is size, not the 15 MB claimed in the Galaxy app store. If getting the APK requires root, we are out of luck as I'm on Verizon.Good. I think we should (cautiously) give Samsung credit for their responsive support.
Also, may I ask you to upload the APK? I may give it a try myself but mostly for other people who may search the forums for it.
You can use an app like ES File Explorer File Manager which you can use to back up any app. There are a lot of similar apps but this one provides better names for the backed up apks (App name+vesion). How do I get to the original downloaded APK? I'm starting to see more reviews for the app in the Galaxy app store though. So hopefully people can actually get to it now.
That's what I did (though I used Root Explorer instead of ES), searching everything I could for "carmode", and I got these reaults. You can use an app like ES File Explorer File Manager which you can use to back up any app. There are a lot of similar apps but this one provides better names for the backed up apks (App name+vesion).
OK, you didn't find it because the apk name doesn't include the word "car", it's com.sec.android.automotive.drivelinkThat's what I did (though I used Root Explorer instead of ES), searching everything I could for "carmode", and I got these reaults.
