just got my Insipre from costco the first thing I did is check to see if my old HD2 carkit from HTC would fit, it does , you have to slide the USB plug to the right and it works great

when they first came out they where $100.00, they are very strong and made just for the HTC that fits, they also come with the car charger and some of the parts are metal. When you dock the phone they it take the phone into car-mode.

i take it that its not a hard mounted usb plug then?

it is the best carkit i have every used. it does come with the USB car charger that plugs into the base of the kit. when you mount the phone it is powered by the car kit.
