Question Cell standby is top battery app? (battery used by radio)

I have RN10Pro EEA (Sweet) on latest MIUI ROM.
I have been trying all the suggested solutions with no success for me.
Now I found one that makes a big difference but does not completely fix the problem.
I found that even though "Nearby Share" was tuned off, look further down the screen you see that notifications (on the same page) remains switched on, and the small print says it will continue to scan for nearby devices even though bluetooth etc is turned off !!!!
My RN10P is often kept next to another device ovenight, so I suspect it was scanning even tho it shouldn't.
Anyway, since turning off the notification setting - the cell standby has dropped from 1500 mAh to 230 mAh per 24 hrs, and is no longer top of the list.

Facing similar battery drain issues. Turned off Nerby Share, as well as its notifications. Let's hope it works.

I do keep my old Windows Phone near my Xiaomi phone, and I often leave Wi-Fi on on both of them overnight. Do you think it might be causing this issue?

Sorry, I cannot confirm if nearby is causing the issue - I do not have the skills to give a definitive answer.
However, since that post, even with nearby notifications disabled, cell standby drain has risen and fallen in the list but always at or very near the top.
I have now stopped wasting my time changing settings, uninstalling apps etc in an effort to find the cause. That is doing more harm than good.
I have decided it is probably a MIUI flaw or deliberate feature buried in the ROM code (eg cnn dialog network monitoring) that is not accessible to me.
I will live with it because the overall standby battery drain is OK.

Sorry, I cannot confirm if nearby is causing the issue - I do not have the skills to give a definitive answer.

LineageOS 20 has the same problem on A13, but as "mobile network" instead of A12's cell standby. That ROM is Pixel-like. I am flummoxed still, myself.

Could it be in the Kernel - do you know if LOS 20 is using the MIUI kernel ?

We do install the latest MIUI kernel, but the LOS install on-screen notes it is installing its own firmware. I asked about that myself. I would not need much convincing to believe it. I should deliberately try a much lower MIUI kernel from scratch for testing. I recall a user noting an error attempting a downgrade with something about attempting to override with older software, but the sharer of the LOS20 ROM here says he does not suffer the issue yet recommends the latest MIUI kernel first.

Please remind me which phone ur using ? sorry I see ur on RN10P
I am asking because my RN10P has the problem but my RN9P does not - and I presume they have different kernels. Therefore, if I were put LOS 20 on the RN10P and the problem is in the kernel, then that could explain why LOS 20 also suffers.

I see. However, it seems to have worked in my case.

1. I turned off all Xiaomi's built-in bloatware/spyware, notably the "Security" app, in the "Authorisation & Revocation" menu.
2. Killed aforementioned bloatware's as many permissions as I could via the "Permission Manager".
3. Turned off Bluetooth scanning (< important).
4. Turned off MIUI's "Usage and Diagnostics".
5. Stopped apps from modifying System Settings.
6. Turned off Google's "Usage and Diagnostics".
7. Turned off "Unrestricted Data" of all apps.
8. Disable background access of all useless apps from "App battery saver".
9. Restricted or disabled background data usage of useless apps.
10. And of course, I also turned off Nearby Share.

And thankfully, now the phone is idling properly. Before, it was remaining constantly awake but now it's idling as it should be:

Excellent. If this works, it will save me the hassle of trying the lower MIUI firmware before flashing any ROM. That idea was a longshot anyway, since L20 installs its own firmware. I for one appreciate your screenshots, as well.

I just learned something today about that battery saver section, the different options of software, hardware, etc. My System Apps Updater app is 57% battery use at the top. The big ones for me are removing Security's power and the System mod power. Will review again tomorrow.

I'm convinced that Xiaomi's System Updater and Security apps are data collectors.

Try disabling "Usage Access" of both these apps. Once I disabled them, they barely consume any power. Before, they were consistently using ~300 mAh of battery at night. But now the Security app consumes ~20 mAh at night with Wi-Fi on while the Updater app doesn't consume anything!
