Ceramic buttons

The Nexus 5 has ceramic buttons. Are they painted silver or are they covered in a plastic like paint like the Nexus 4?

They are not painted. They have made them ceramic because the colour is baked into the ceramic. If you took the button and snapped it half, it would be the same colour all the way through. This means the colour/paint can not chip or wear off.

glad to hear that as i was going to take a bit of wet and dry paper to mine as the edges are really sharp on my volume buttons
