Hi there,
I am partially sighted and I would like to have all system fons on my legend scalable. Especially in the Maps app the fonts (street names, ...) are so small that it is competely unusable for me. I tried spare parts, but it does not work. Just increases the size once inside the app an has no effent to the rest of the system.
I guess even rooting would not help because there is still no system partition access. I also tried font change program and type fresh, but they do not work or crash (font change prog). Does anybody know another way to increase the system font size?
Thanks in advance,
D/

Hello Everybody,
I rooted my phone yesterday. In Recovery-Mode there is access to the system partition. In normal use of the phone not. So none of the apps to change the font size can work (as I suspected). But I think there must be a configuration file where the overall resolution or font size con be changed. Dows anybody know the path and the name of the file(s) which need to be changed? And does anybody already know recommended values?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
last week I contacted i-p-tel, the company who sells Font Size (for root users) on Android Market. I asked them to tell me, which file in the system path needs or which files need to be edited to achieve a larger font exposition. I am not quite sure if they will answer, because of their commercial interests, but maybe they will begin to sell an alternative version, which could be applied in recovery mode. This would be great.
Have a nice day.

changing font size in spare parts doesn't work

Changing font size in spare parts should handle the task at hand, but it doesn't work. As soon as you leave the spare part menus the fonts are still the same.

This is possibly because writing to system/ is not permitted (legend is not fully rooted). Are you using system overlay? If not, try it, could make a difference. If you're on a Cyanogenmod, simply flash aufs_no_kernel.zip, and in recovery mode run 'system/xbin/aufs --enable' after mounting system in adb shell. Search the development thread for this.

EDIT: this is just a theory, I presume the fonts handling is in /system/. I'm not sure thou.

EDIT2: to clearify, system overlay will give you access to edit the system partition - in other words - apps can do changes there.

Sounds complicated :) I have a rooted HTC Desire, could you please direct me to the proper thread for my machine.

Do you know Maybe one can somehow run Spare Parts in a Super User mode?

Desire is fully rooted (I presume your device is S-Off), so system partition is writeable (no need for system overlay). So any app than can change the fonts should do it. :)
