Change vibrate length?

Hey everyone. I wanted to know how to change the length and style of vibrate for when I receive texts on the captivate. The original one is just to long and kind of annoying to me.

I use the stock messaging. Not handcent or chomp. Since I don't like how they look.

I know you can set the vibration pattern with handcent, but as far as I know, you can't edit the stock vibration pattern.
