What to change Sprint to something else? Well here is how. This is a rough guide, maybe I'll get ambitious and spruce it up when I have some more time...

Install HTC Sync if you haven't already..
Get it here.
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=933&news_id=631

Gonna need the HTC Diag drivers, least I did... these work fine:
http://rapidshare.com/files/293529424/HTC_Hero_DIAG_Drivers.zip

To get CDMA Workshop you are gonna have to use your favorite torrent search or whatever to get a cracked version....

Enter DIAG mode, dial ##diag#, let windows install the drivers...most likely it won't find the HTC DIAG drivers, but they are in the link above... get it installed.

Now in CDMA workshop, you really don't want to be effin' with stuff you aren't sure what it is... but we are here to change the banner right? riight so don't be changing anything else and you'll be a-ok.

Select your port, hit connect, hit read... goto the NAM tab...hit Read ...change the Banner from "Sprint" to whatever..hit "Write".... then you can reboot the phone and its done.
Did this, it did the write successfully, rebooted, still have the Sprint banner.

Worked like a charm. I had to start at the beginning a couple times, because the phone kept showing up on ports only supported in CDMAW registered version. After a 3rd try, it connected on com2, and was smooth as silk after that. strange process when you're a noob like me. trying to figure out why it was connecting but not reading the phone, then not connecting, then working like a charm. I'm such a noob...:D but now I'm a noob with his name where Sprints used to be

1. Install HTC Sync if you haven't already.

2. Follow these instructions up to read SPC and write down that number... you will need it later.

3. Download QPST:
http://www.x-drivers.com/catalog/flash/mobile_phones/companies/qualcomm/models/qpst/12051.html
4. Install QPST software
5. Put phone into Diag mode: dial ##diag#
6. Start QPST service programming. If your phone is in diag mode you will see it listed here.
7. Click Read from phone
8. Enter your SPC number.
9. Click the Display tab.
10. Change the banner to what you want.
11. Write to phone.
12. Reboot phone and you will see the new banner.
Ok so going into diag all the numbers are 0, see nothing about comports..should be something right? Open CDMAWS, port 4 works. Security>SPC>read ...Got "failed." What's going wrong?

CDMAWS is were the ports comes into play. If you choose 4 and it fails then its not using port 4. I had to change what my windows was using for one of the ports that you can use in the demo. I believe its 1,2,3, or 4 and if they are all being used by windows then you have to free one up.

Well I made progress, got it to connect to port five. But when opening QPST it doesn't show my phone so stuck there. Did diag and that screen is running on my phone before opening QPST Service Programming.

Dont' know how to tell what the right one is, it doesn't tell me anywhere until I test out to see if it connects. It connects to four and five, but only five allows me to read/send spc. So that's what I was using.

Don't mean to bring up an old thread but I've been wanting to change the Sprint banner and stumbled across this post and using Slayer69 method worked for me (thanks bro).

Like some folks I was getting stuck on step 6 but realized that you can manually add the port that your phone is connected to under "QPST Configuration". Once you do that then everything is cake.

Okay not exactly cake because after I did the "write to phone" step I got an error message. I can't remember the exact wording but I took it that the memory I was trying to write to was was read only. Since it had been several months since this last post and when I got my phone, I thought that maybe HTC/Sprint had changed the hardware.

I rebooted anyway and lo and behold my personalized banner was there!

So screw you ruskiyab do everyone a favor and stay out of these forums if you're not going to give any helpful input.

Big thanks to everyone else!

The CMDA method no longer seems to be working unless you already have CDMA. The CDMA website is either gone or on hold or something, i dont know. I have been trying to figure out how to change my banner for three days and i could not find any copy of CDMAWS anywhere. I finally stumbled across this thread and SLAYER69 's method and it worked!

I did have to manually add my port COM4, but that is really easy to do once in QPST Configuration. Once connected I followed the crystal clear step-by-step instructions and it worked! It did give me an error message but disregard it.

Thank you all for the help!!!!

*oh, and I'm new to this whole rooted/flashing roms/nandroid/editing my phone stuff. lol. I just rooted my phone a week ago. I then flashed MYN'S WARM TWOPOINTTWO ROM, and all the radio/wimax stuff it said to do, and a ton of other custom roms and now I did this. Point-in-case? I am new to ALL of this and if I can do it, anybody can do it and shouldn't be afraid of rooting their phone or trying new things.
