my old oneplus 3 had longer battery life and faster charging speed than galaxy s8+. I have currently stock rom and don't know if there is any other custom rom with better battery life though.

Yesterday I charged my s8+ with the original fast charger and the original cable and it took 1 hour and 34 mins to charge from 1% to 100% and today I tried charging with the original charger of my s5 and it took 1 hour and 48 mins from 1% to 100%.
This is it? Only about 15 mins difference? 1 hour and 34 mins is quick but the difference between fast charging and regular charging with a normal charger isn't big at all.
Just a quick question. Did you happen to have the screen on or turning it on frequently while charging?

The S8 only "actually" quick charges when the screen is off. It says it's Fast charging" while plugged in to a compatible fast charger, but only charges at the 4.8 Volts and around 1.5 amps when the screen is turned on. When the screen turns off, it jumps to the 8 Volts and 1.8-2.0 amps.

seems silly I know, but there must be a reason behind it. Maybe potential overheating if being used too heavily (gaming, movies, etc) while trying to fast charge at the same time. But I would have never thought that until I plugged in a voltage and amp meter inline with the charger to see what was actually flowing through.

Oh, yea i forgot the screen off thing. Maybe you are right.
Anyway did you ever estimate your battery life, i did it with accu and after 5 charges, it says 3600, 104%. Is it possible, or its an error.
