Hi all,

I have a Garmin GPS10 that says it paired but will not even try to connect. I am using the phiremod 5.3, i think I may have a bigger problem as it does the same thing when I tried to connect it with my Eris.

Any advice?

Thank You all!!

Everything I've connected says "paired but not connected",but still works. What app are you using on the Nook to connect to the GPS? Make sure it's looking for the correct type of GPS. I just got a Bluetooth GPS and was having trouble getting the Bluetooth GPS Provider app to work until I switched it to sirf and then it worked perfectly.

Got an email from the copilot live company today. They said there should be an updated version available on Wednesday that will work correctly on the Nook and other tablets without a cell phone radio. I obtained an old version and installed it and used my Google checkout code to activate it. It's a really nice app. Well worth the price.

Nope. With a BT GPS, all you need is one of mnay free BT GPS apps, and you are good to go. In the Development settings, you do have to turn on "mock locations", but that is a one time deal and 5 seconds. One you fire up the app to connect to the receiver, the system receives location information as if the BT was built in.
I was under the impression you have to go thru a process just to get BT to work on the NC. I have a Holux slim236.

Have you heard any more updates about this? I had CoPilot working well until I stupidly applied the update...didn't read your post until too late. Now it is broken and I can't get past the IMEI verification. There is not update in the Market as of yet, and I am getting nervous. Where did you find an older version? I would be interested in getting this to get the dang thing working again. This is not illegal/warez as it requires a valid subscription to activate it....quite the opposite as I paid for software that I now cannot use.
Thanks.

Just got this one from ebay:

h**p://cgi.ebay.ca/GLOBALSAT-BLUETOOTH-GPS-RECEIVER-NEW-/320672337532?pt=UK_CE_GPS_Accessories_Software_ET&hash=item4aa98f8e7c

~ $18 cdn (including shipping)

Paired using 0000 and BlueGps4Droid. Works with CoPilot and LocusPro. Only tried it at home (no travel yet) and got GPS fix with both programs.

Bluetooth range is 2-3 feet.

Running CM7 stable w/ 925MHz OC off SD card.

By 'boots me out of the bluetooth', what exactly do you mean? Does your Bluetooth radio turn off when you try to run Google Maps? Or does the Bluetooth GPS app lose connection with your external GPS receiver? Neither of these really makes much sense as they should not be happening. Can you run Google Maps without your GPS connected? It will either not know your location, or if you have your Wifi on it will use your network location, but the app should still run. If the Google Maps app is working, and Bluetooth GPS connects with your receiver, then it should just work. The only suggestion I might have is to update your ROM to CM7 stable - that is what I am running and everything works the way it should.

I can get my location to show up on google maps but then the bluetooth gps shows a failure which as far as i can tell is the bluetooth scanning again. I am getting good sat reception and the receiver unit is within a foot of the unit ( i have tried multiple locations with the reciver and nook). As far as google maps yes it runs fine even updated with a new version. If i cannot get this i will update to CM7 stable since i used verygreens install it should be no big deal.
If you dont mind me asking do have a specific order that you start with? I.E start gps then start maps ect.
Thank you for any and all help xdajunkman

It sounds like this might be a Bluetooth problem rather than a problem with your receiver or the Bluetooth GPS app. Some people have had issues with their BT randomly shutting off and back on...though I have never had such difficulties. I would recommend upgrading to CM7 stable and see if that resolves the issue. I always turn on my GPS receiver, open Bluetooth GPS, push the 'connect' button to get it connected (which takes only a few seconds), then start whatever other app I am going to use that needs GPS data (CoPilot, Gmaps, etc). I have great range with my GPS receiver and have never randomly lost connection as you are describing.

I am going to change to cm7 stable this weekend and see if that fixes the problem. Hopefully the developers on this will be able to over come the current issues with the bluetooth sometime in the near future.
Thanks again xdajunkman

Dear ndinfla,

Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.

Unfortunately we do not support our software on the Nook. Also if you are using a custom ROM then you do so at your own risk. We will not support our software in case of custom ROMs. I am very sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards,

CoPilot Technical Support

Is there any chance of me getting a version of copilot from some one that will function? I will gladly pay one gazillion bazillion fake dollars. I just want to get this working. Mucho thanks
Something like this would be worth at least two full copies of the internet. Check your messages.

It is not really a cheap GPS alternative, I purchased a LG Optimus T phone (android 2.2) to use. The T-mobile refurbished quad band Optimus T is now $120 (prepaid/no contract). It is not the best android phone on the market but it is a very good value.

PS The Optimus was somewhat cheaper when I bought it. However, I think it is still a good deal at $120. The Optimus T is locked but T-mobile has a reasonable unlock policy.
For customers with a T-Mobile Prepaid Plan, T-Mobile will provide the SIM Unlock Code upon request to eligible customers, provided the requesting customer has a minimum of 60 days of active service with T-Mobile and either a Prepaid Plan account balance of at least $10.00 or a prior refill within the last 30 days.
