According to Aurora Store, the 2.15.12 version of the app has 9 trackers. This bugs me a lot, so I won't be checking out this app. From what I know, there was an open source, tracker-free app on F-droid a long time ago, but it is no longer supported.
would anyone like comment/explain what are & what they do , these "9 trackers"? that would be much appreciated.

The previous app was not open source although there had been discussions about making it that way. I can say nothing of the trackers you mention however.

My mistake, then. I was referring to this app, having its last update in 2015: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.iven.xdafeedreader/.

Don't get me wrong, I still find all the information here very useful and use a web app for the phone.

PS: For those who do not know how to use web apps for mobile, in the browser (preferably not Chrome) after going to https://www.xda-developers.com/, click in the browser "Add To Home screen".

It is not perfect, but for me it is the best trade-off.

I'm seeing that there are achievements that are available, that some individuals may be qualified for, but have not been awarded yet. I can assume that some achievements are still in a rollout stage, as this week several were awarded to me just based on past activity (some of us are old timers on here and have a lengthy history).

I am hopeful that these achievements and points are a replacement of the old like bar scale, and not a move to copy other social media platforms such as snapchat or tiktok in terms of competitions for follows and what not.

Affirmative, achievements still seem to be under construction i.e. still expect bugs and non-availabilities. Personally I assume it's a hell of data that require to be transferred from "former" vBulletin times.

common... seriously... the app just got worse... while features might be added and all, which would be nice and all, if it weren't for the fact that basic functionality just got worse.... I mean I understand there is a basic navigation/status/menu bar on the bottom, but there is a similar sized white bar just above that, which has no function afaik... above that there are the adds, covering even more content, and on top we have yet another navigation bar covering the same size as the button, so the interface takes up almost the same screen real estate than it's content on my phone... NOT a nice experience...

Also, people should take into consideration that fixing app bugs/problems doesn't happen overnight. You just open the app and expect everything to be perfect, but there are people working behind the scenes to bring you the best experience possible. Be patient.
Thanks XDA team for your hard work.
since I'm a developer myself, I'm quite aware of all the issues that can arise, and I do not expect an app to be perfect from the start, but the way I see it... you start with the MVP and only when that's working you continue forward... not add in all the extras and create parts of the MVP along the way...
If you'd my posts earlier in this thread I've always been one to defend the developers, because I understand all the hustle, just steps backwards... that's not py thing... about adaway, I do feel like leaving the adds as is, because it's theirnwaynto create revenue... however the app should remain usable... one a tablet the content real estate is ok, on the phone however interface should be minimal... using things like OnIdiom could help...

I think the app icon should conform with the circle style, and not remain as a box only. Many apps have already transitioned to allow for it to be displayed as a circle icon.

Also, if I'm browsing forums, the back button should not bring you all the way to the beginning, just back a previous page or out of the thread/section you are in

If i'm not mistaken, the "ping" sound happens with a new alert without a notification appearing (which leads me to think that notifications are not involved, so disabling them does nothing)
Not sure why DND does not block the app's sounds completely...
I have a problem with the XDA app (2.15.38).
When I open it I often get a notification sound, sometimes without any reason (just reading a thread), sometimes the push notification emits a sound.
I disabled the sound in the notification section (see attached screenshot) but I get sound notifications even when the device (Xiaomi Mi 9T/Android 10) is in DND mode.
It's the only app that seems to override the Do Not Disturb mode.
That's very annoying, for example when I'm reading on XDA at night and my wife gets woken up......😉
I realized there are two additional sections in the apps notification setting called default and miscellaneous (see screenshot). What are they for?
Yes, it seems to be a bug off the current xda app version.
Here is the corresponding bug report:

What happened with Discord channel to report all this issues? Or now is better to do it here as latest version is out?
      Cheers
This thread here is open for all members.
Discord thread is only for Xda App Taskforce members ... and (just my interpretation) with focus on reporting bugs of new beta versions.

I'm a web (Angular, Ionic and HTML) and Android developer from many years....I can't understand how it's possible to have all this issues in an App: current forum is the lowest version of XDA I ever tried in more than 10+ years, the Android BACK button doesn't work in the proper way in most of cases (it returns back 2 or more levels at one time), Notifications are wrong (I get continuous "Bing Bing" sound for same Notifications or "trophies").... The old version (the one before change Framework) was simply, fast and good....but now this WebView version is laggy, slow, heavy and ugly.

I really don't understand why you were decided to invest time/money on this kind of Thing.

New update is 20 steps back. The ads are effing ridiculous. 3/4 of each post is filled with ads. Back to completely unusable. Greedy twits...
I really miss Labs. No ads and it worked just fine.

The new app is just an upgrade to the current XDA app, so you should be able to just go into Play and hit "Update"

The app is rolling out now, and will take hours to get to everyone. For safety, we are doing a staged rollout at first at about 50%.

Update 12/8: App is now at 100% rollout so everyone should get it soon. Thanks for testing and using it! :)
Update 1/13/21: We are aware that for some, the app isn't working. We plan to release a fix ASAP.

      Fun things to try:

      - Login explore the app settings and gesture controls (hit the third button on the bottom).
      - Read the Tips and Tricks thread
      21
So many are asking about the news section in the app---and yes, we intend to bring this back.
      18
So far it's s long way short of the old app, in terms of functionality.
For me the main things that could be fixed/implemented are
. Easily select my device then have the main device subforum one click away. (No, it's not going to be good enough to bookmark/flag/watch/favourite/whatever the individual subforums of the device subforum. It would be nice to have the device forum in its own tab/link/etc. and not mixed in with the general watched threads section)
. Go to the last read post when opening a thread
. Selecting a thread, by default, opens that thread, not show some useless overview, requiring a second button tap to actually open it.
. Bring back the swipe left and right, in a thread, to go to the previous next page in the thread.

I've been lazy and haven't gone through this thread, so I assume there's nothing new here as these are all the staple needs of a forum app. So apologies if I'm repeating other thoughts, but the more often the basics are flagged, hopefully the higher up the fix list they'll go.
OK, having spent a bit more time with it, here are more thoughts.
. The current home page is mostly useless, the trending, new posts, and new threads are 99.9% device specific about a device you don't own and so is pointless. Move this to the last tab on the bottom (I'll leave it to someone else to suggest an icon for it) then make a useful home page. The most useful things are quick access to your own device subforums (This would be an expandable list, depending on how many devices you own/care about.), quick access to see new posts where you have direct replies, quotes or mentions and quick access to see new PM's. The rest of the home page could then be configurable so each user can choose what else is important to them. (e.g. New posts to threads you've previously participated in).
. Bring back the functionality to automatically save a draft of a new post/reply. It was incredibly useful when you needed to add multiple links to other threads. It was also very useful when creating long guides, etc. to be able to compose it in stages if necessary.
. Why are PM's (conversations in modern parlance) only accessible in the alerts tab?. I understand new messages should have alerts there, but surely the whole collection should have its own place. I guess somewhere in the account tab would make some sense.

I'm sorry to have to say this to the developper of this app, but I really don't like the new app. It's so less convenient than the previous XDA Labs app.

Here in a list of key features I'm missing:
      - Going straight to the last unread post when clicking on a thread (instead, the new app opens the thread in the OP which is very frustrating as you can't really figure out where you last left the thread).
      - Navigating through thread pages by swiping left and right
      - The Newsfeed section
      - The XDA App section. Maybe it's because this is forbidden by Google, but then why don't you make a non playstore XDA+ app with this additional feature? Many XDA users are "expert" happy to install apps from other sources than the Play Store anyways
      - The "My Device" section, leading straight to our Device forum
      - The Subscribed Thread tab

Other things that I find very frustrating with new app:
      - It's too cluttered, and despite the clutter, it is not only less convenient than the previous XDA Labs app, but it is also missing nice features/tabs/filters that can be found in the browser version
      - I'm getting the SSL error when using NextDNS private dns. The only way around this is to whitelist www.google-analytics.com and www.googletagmanger.com. This is unacceptable for me. I can't whitelist this google crap just for the sake of accessing the XDA app (especially XDA, of all apps, why would you mingle so deeply with google analytics?).

I'm gonna stick to the web version for the time being (also a frustration), hoping for an improved XDA app, with a more user-friendly UI, less permission requests, and less dependancy on google-crap.

Also, is there a web browser equivalent to the XDA Lab App Store?

well , title says "tell us what you think".
firstly i'd like to say that i am not a developer. so i couldnt have done this. it is appreciated the time , effort , hours and knowledge that went into it.
but i think it was @lfom who said it best for me ; "it killed the mobile user experience". i can learn new ways to navigate to where i want to go. i can find most everything i look for. but the overall experience has , well diminished quite a bit for me personally. i know you all are working diligently to fix the things that are broke which is again highly appreciated. but i can get kinda the same experience with my mobile browser and launcher just by logging in and clicking on "save to home screen".
just my ¢.02 and do appreciate the effort.
all the best for xda and its members/families in the new year.
