It seems to be random. Sometimes you get FC when going to edit, but if that happens, just go into setting and disable the spoof, then go edit.

I've still never actually ran a custom rom on my Pixel 7 Pro. With AOSP Mods, I can do pretty much all tweaks I need and everything else just works nicely. They are tempting me at least, though then I may just do a nice clean flash with the upcoming April stock release, flashed in the way to allow a custom kernel perhaps as well as 32 bit app support, and keep things like that.

Still very much an observer of this thread though!

I installed the CrDroid March special build, and I must say it is perhaps the smoothest ROM I have used for this device. Great effort seems to have been put in to ensure the sheer amount of smoothness it offers.

Having said that, I noticed the link now shows a file not found error. Possibly due to some issues, which I faced as well such as:

- Significant battery drain and overheating caused by Android System and Android System Intelligence. CPU usage also remains high due to this.

- The sound output from external speakers is a little distorted and loud, which is also the case on Lineage OS. This is especially true with Adaptive Sound turned on. Some ROMs have the sound output fixed like Evolution X, and the necessary commits/files should be available there. The sound output with that seems a little lower on volume, with some limiter enabled (dynamic range control?).

I really hope these issues can be fixed easily. I would be happy to try out any test builds, ask really want CrDroid to be available for our device.

Thanks for the time and effort involved in making these builds. I tried the builds from 04/01, 04/02, and 04/03. The ROM is very smooth, and truly the "Best ROM Ever", as displayed in the At A Glance section. This should be CrDroid official for this device. We can hopefully fine tune it to make it even better.

The earlier battery drain and associated issues seem to be fixed now. The external speaker sound is also better, but there is still some cracking/distortion noticeable during high volume audio, such as sound effects in movie trailers, and some songs. The loudness also seems to be a little higher. Hopefully that can be tweaked, as well as sound limiter (dynamic range control?) can be enabled.

I noticed the Wallpaper picker is missing in the 04/03 build. Good call on not including YouTube and YouTube Music by default.

Lockscreen has a white overlay, which seems to make dark wallpapers look almost white. Hopefully that can be toned down and optionally disabled.

There is some lag noticeable while expanding the quick settings.

Hopefully, the font used in the Stock builds can be included as well.

Moreover, if the ROM can be switched over ADB style zips, we may be able to use OTA updates, even if it involves manually downloading the ROM and using the Local Update feature of the OTA updater.

I may have more observations that I can tell you about for making this ROM even better.

Is there a group for testing/discussion for our device for this ROM that I can join?

"ADB style zips", or custom OTA packages (aka "ROM zips") can be flashed in recovery using adb sideload, just like in the past, after installing the initial update.zip for said ROM with fastboot.

As for actually broadcasting the OTA and providing a seamless update in the background? Doable for sure, it'd be a bit more complex than just "m" (<- AOSP build command)

most of these things except the ota and adb style zips will not happen until these go official which i hope can be very soon.

alot of bugs have been fixed on new test build which my tester are not had a weird bluetooth bug but will make builds avilable soon

Good work so far. I am wondering what are the requirements to make this ROM official though.

I also noticed that the charging voltage/current on the lock screen is also displayed for a short while when the cable is plugged, and it gets truncated after the "time to fully charge" appears before it. The ROM I mentioned about earlier also has this working fine, and useful commits can be added from there as needed.

Thanks for the words of appreciation. I actually used to compile my own ROM for my music player from before smartphones were a thing, and I understand what it takes to do it. I have also compiled my own kernels and contributed to some Xposed modules in the past.

I was giving my suggestions regarding the OTAs since crDroid (based on Lineage OS) seems to have a built in updater with OTA support too. The updater also seems to take compatible zips from local storage to perform the update, without relying on a PC/Laptop to do it from. Since Lineage OS uses recovery flashable update zips, I think the updater will accept those for performing on device updates too.
