I've got same unit with updated firmware. I bought power player pro to get eq control, works perfectly in my Benz. Don't need fader so never bothered.
That might be the case but without that audio chip, the sound quality is beyond horrific. It was already bad in the older units that ran TDA7388 amplifier and already had the chip.

Now you're getting YD7388 amp (that's a crappier version of already crappy TDA7388) and no audio chip.

Not even PowerAmp can help you, I'm afraid. Viper4Android can't do much either.

Luckily, for just a few dollars, you can upgrade to TDA7729 audio processing chip, then add TDA7850 amp powered by a 10,000 uf capacitor and install proper cooling system to support the insane power that TDA7850 produces. Then root your unit and install Viper4Android. Then with proper configuration, the sound quality from your Android will be on par with hi-end Android units, that for example Mercedes sells for £5,000 or more.

Check the video in my signature for more tips.

You can but unfortunately this isn't a (what we would call) a standard model. I thought you had something like this:
Yeah, I know that it is`t standard model. But can`t i add at least one of them?

On the board have empty slot i thought for radio chip, but i am not sure what exactly and what more element need to soldering and wath need change in software (firmware)?

On picture in internet i saw same boards with chip "Techpoint TP2804" in that slot.

@iceblue1980 I am quite impressed by your work.
Thank you for sharing.

Besides cooling and antennas. When it comes to the ICs.
Do you only change the audio ICs TDA7719 / TDA7850 on those units?
Or do you also change other ICs? Like radio receiver or so?

Is the unit "strong" enough to handle Navigation and maybe even OBDII - Torque with your firmware?
Is it possible to handle two bluetooth connections at the same time?

Thanks a lot

Appreciate that. Thanks. But to be clear - none of the mods that I do, are my creations. I do a lot of research and then follow the guides that I find. It helps to be a Russian speaker as well, as most of the stuff I learned are from 4PDA forums.

The only thing I can take credit for is the adaptation of the mods, when it comes to the way I make the units look on the outside and the way I configure them.

I've been doing this for about 18 months now as a hobby project to support some charities out there.

To your question - here's the list of what I normally do:

1. Radio: change internal electronics to considerably improve the sound and reception quality of FM

2. Completely rebuild the sound system: installing TDA7850 running at 18v max capacity (DC-DC step-up converter) with 10,000 uf capacitor, supported by a temperature-controlled external fan with its own DC-DC step-down converter (you don't want to use the internal power at all, for anything). In the video in my signature you will also see an additional external heatsink and I also install bronze heatsinks inside the unit to control the heat of the amp.

3. Heatsink on CPU

4. External Wifi antenna

5. Custom internal mic

6. TDA7729 audio chip (if not present, like on YT9213xx models)

7. Custom Android OS with all the bells and whistles.

8. Viper4Android to further improve the sound.

Yes with the modded operating system, this unit can run TPMS, navigation, HD video, and everything else.

Hope this helps

@iceblue1980 Thank you very much for your reply. This is very helpful.

I just ordered one unit and will see whats inside.
Fortunately, I am somewhat experienced with SMD soldering and MCU programming.
What Step UP IC do you use to generate the 18 Volt?
Is it sodered directly on the PCB or do you use an external smps for it?

Do you know whether there are some schematics of the circuit anywhere?
As far as I understand most of the PCBs of those Headunits follow one reference design and are
populated with somewhat more or less quality parts.
I tried to find it but had no luck up to now.

That is great. Certainly your skills will help you to achieve this and more. As for the schematics - you're absolutely right, they are hard if not impossible to find. I use this step-up module and this step down for the fan control. I use external enclosure for the step-up module, while attaching the step-down one to the motherboard as it fits perfectly below the main socket (see pic)

Perhaps we can collaborate as I still got much to learn, both in electronics and MCU programming. Feel free to PM me and I can share all the resources that are currently available to me.

Also, because I mod and sell these units (for charity), I need to think about how they look on outside as well. There are probably easier ways to mod them if you just do it for yourself.

Thanks! Glad you appreciated it.

You can see in the video that the motherboard is completely different so unfortunately I don't know what to advise you. Sorry

I'll take the risk.

Unfortunately, looks like mine has no place for the audio chip (iMars branded type).
One interesting thing is my LCD was plugged into the smaller of the 2 large connectors on the right in my pic. The bigger one is unused. It looks like other people, the LCD uses the bigger connector. I guess there are 2 types of LCDs commonly used? Are some IPS and others are worse? Mine doesn't have very good viewing angles. Also, what is the connector in the middle of the PCB above the big connector for? Kind of looks like a CFL connector. Mine had nothing plugged into it. I see in other peoples' pics, some have a thicker red & black wire. Others have a white & black wire. Are some of these CFL and others are LED?

I need a fader because my rear speakers are 10x louder than the front without fading, so I guess I'll sell mine. If I get an Android 8/9 version, would it have the sound chip? Do all Android 8/9 models have the sound chip, or is it random?

Yes it is probably best to get a new unit. Below are the models that have Audio Chip:

YT9216B, YT9217B, YT9128C, YT9216BJ

YT9213AJ and YT9213A normally don't come with the chip.

You can PM me if you want recommendations on what to buy and where (no affiliations on my part) or if you want something really hi-end, then I might be able to help you as part of a charity project I'm currently running. Cheers

Guys, the reason your unit doesn't have EQ or fader is that it's missing an audio chip. Older units all had it, like YT9216, YT9217, YT9218, and even (older) YT9213AJ. If you buy Android 8.x or 9.x then the audio chip will be present.

See the pictures below explaining the issue.

The audio chip is TDA7729 (TDA7719 , CSC37033 , SCS37534).

Now there is a fix but it requires advanced soldering skills and a proper setup.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Hi sorry for asking. I've been trying to find guide to add audio chip.. mine is 9213aj v1.2 and dont have audio chip.. can you share the process?

    HI there..

I have a Chinese made Android Head Unit running Android 9. The brand is called ZXDZ_01 Car Navigation Head Unit. What I realized is that this head unit doesn't have audio panning (panning front and rear) as left and right is available. Is there any way I can install a 3rd party app or configure to have that function enabled? I've tried Alpine TuneIt app (the UI got enlarged at some point which I cannot access other UI options), I've tried Poweramp app (this app somehow sucked on volume adjustment which it sounded really lame), I've tried Noozxiode EIZO-rewire PRO (this app really didn't do much).

Aside from that, the Head Unit has an update via OTA, downloaded it but failed to install (it popped out Error with the Android robot laying down). Attachments are given below. In addition to that, I stumbled upon a page within the Head Unit that it says 8227L_demo before I renamed it to a specific name for identification for device connection.

Though it's a Chinese brand, it sounds really good actually with the absent of the fader option BUT I do prefer to have the front and rear fader option as I don't want the front speakers to handle the audio output similar to rear ones as the rear ones are capable to handle the output (kinda like a F 30% - R 70% audio output bias, give or take).

And, this unit is kinda slow (touchscreen and touch button). With MTK processor and 1GB RAM and 16GB Storage, the specs sucked I know BUT if you guys can help/ advise me on getting it to run slightly smooth, responsive AND most importantly splitscreen capability is suffice. Good thing WIFI ok nonetheless it's slow, GPS is ok.

    Hello,
I have the same device but I need to change the starting logo but I need the setting password. Anyone know what is the setting password?
    Thanks
Pass for factory settings probably is: 8888
A little disclaimer: If you change the boot logo to something with a wrong format you risk bricking the unit...

With which application can control the sound of the rear and front speakers?
