Update 19/04/2016: This charger vastly outperforms the LG when screen on. See bottom of this post for details.

Quick review of this charger. I received it free of charge in exchange for honest feedback.

It has a USB-A connection & no cable is included but the LG one you get with the G5 works fine.

It seems well built, a little shorter than the original but lacks the retractable earth pin so a bit of give & take on portability.

One standout physical difference to any other charger I've had is simply genius, a reversible USB-A connection. Can't believe it isn't more common but great to have a key advantage of USB-C ported to USB-A.

Performance in comparison to the original is nigh on identical. Both charge at 3A until about 60% then start ramping down.

Here's the times Choetech / LG

10%-60% 25:04 / 24:31
60%-80% 13:45 / 14:00
80%-100% 31:07 / 31:19
100% to current dropped to 0mA 49:19/ 49:56

Yep, with both chargers there seems to be a long time from reporting 100% & trickle charge actually reaching 0mA.

I used 3C Toolbox for measurements.

A few pics. LG charger is white.

Update 19/04/2016

Definitely better charging rate with QC3 when screen on. 1st 2 images are LG non QC 3.0, 3rd & 4th are the Choetech QC 3.0 charger

The former seems to pick up a little when temp goes below 35c but still not a patch on the latter.

(yellow marker indicates when screen on)

Very good test! Thank you for the awesome review and test.
Does anyone have comparison times for quick charge 2.0 vs. quick charge 3.0 ??

So these numbers basically say they charged at almost the same rate?!

Yep. The only potential difference might be lower temperature with the QC3 due to more voltages to choose from but effective charge rate was nigh on identical.

Hmm, it's interesting the voltage/amperage ratings on your charger are exactly those printed on a QC2.0 charger... looking through Amazon, those are the same stats printed on other QC3 chargers too. If confirmed, this makes QC3 chargers not nearly as useful as advertised :(

The Anker QC3 I looked at on Amazon is touting 80% in 38 minutes, which would line up at ~70% with my QC2 charts. Meh.

I've been very pleased with mine since I got it. I haven't done any deep research like stuart but as a secondary charger in my living room it definitely seems to be at least as quick as the stock charger. I'm using a 6 foot cable so the fact that it still charges as quickly as the stock charger impresses me.

Overall I've been impressed but I think Choetech has done a good job at being some of the first 3rd party options you can trust recently. My outlet is in an awkward spot so I don't know if the brick heats up at all while it's charging or anything but it does the job.

I didn't get the charger for free but I think it's worth the money. I planned to take one of my 3.0 chargers to the office and use a 2.0 at my nightstand but I may end up just grabbing another one of these for the price.

Thanks for the review @stuart0001 it's nice to see the real data on this to know it's not just all in my head.
