I participated in Choetech's review program for their HDMI to USB C cable and wanted to leave my review here:

A high quality, low cost solution!
Disclaimer: I received this product at no cost to review it for the manufacturer.
Choetech recently released a USB C to HDMI cable as a low cost solution to Samsung's official DeX cable. The cable came quickly via Amazon 2-Day shipping and arrived in Choetech retail packaging.
The gold coated terminal ends were protected with plastic caps, and it included a velcro cable tie to keep it neat and tidy when not in use.
I received the cable to test DeX on my Note 9. I used a 60-inch Samsung TV and a 47-inch LG TV as my monitor. It should work on any TV or monitor with HDMI inputs. Unfortunately I did not have a 4K TV to test.
The 6 foot length is perfect for using your phone while it's plugged into the monitor.
As soon as i plugged in thr cable to my Note 9 and the TV, the Note detected it and started DeX mode. The first couple times i started DeX with this cable, I received a message in the notification shade reminding me to only use official Samsung brand DeX cables for the best experience. I don't know if the official cable also triggers this message, or if it's just a general reminder the first time DeX is activated.
DeX loaded within a few seconds, and i was able to use my Note 9 as a touch pad and navigate through the DeX interface with ease.
I was also able to easily switch to screen mirroring mode with the cable.
I have tested this cable with a 128GB Note 9 running Android Oreo and a 512GB Note 9 running Android Pie Beta. I compared the experience to using the official DeX Pad, and the experience was the same. There was noticeable difference between loading speed or picture quality. Again, I don't have a 4K monitor to test the full resolution capability. I've heard third party cables limit you to 5 open apps on DeX, but didn't test it. Again, in my use, i saw no difference between the Choetech cable and the DeX Pad as far as performance.
Using the cable has pros and cons. Pros are portability, convenience, the ability to use it without a separate power source, and low cost. Another benefit is using the cable for screen mirroring on older devices such as the Note 8.
Cons are the inability to charge it while using it. The DeX Pad requires a separate power source, but also charges the Note 9 while using it. You can always use a wireless charger with the DeX cable, but that detracts from the portability. With the cable you are limited to using the screen as a touchpad and using the onscreen keyboard, unless you have a compatible bluetooth keyboard and mouse. With the DeX Pad, you can plug in a keyboard and mouse to the USB ports.
One issue i had was the first cable I received had a short in the end. Any movrment of the phone caused it to lose connection to the cable. It would either briefly cut out the monitor, or occasionally cause DeX to completely restart. After testing different inputs on two TVs and two different Note 9s and troubleshooting with Choetech, they sent me a replacement cable and I've had no issues since.
My opinion: if you're a hardcore daily user of DeX, get the DeX Pad. If you're looking for a low cost, portable solution for screen mirroring or mobile DeX sessions, then the Choetech cable is a great low cost alternative to Samsung's overpriced cable!
