Have you set resolution to 1080p rather than auto?coming from a Note 9. I definitely see the difference. P30 Pro display is not as crisp. I agree with above that you can actually see the pixels without looking hard

ya but im not surprised. Note 9 is QHD with 516 ppi whereas p30 pro is only FHD+ with 398 ppi. Huge difference.Have you set resolution to 1080p rather than auto?
Overall now having had the device a while are you still happy with it?An update on this matter after owning the phone for almost two weeks now:
I don't know if it was the tweaks I did to the screen's scaling, or the font size, or my eyes were used to 2k displays, or maybe a combination of all what I mentioned above, but I don't notice the pixels on my phone anymore, and even when I grab my wife's S10+, I don't feel like I'm looking at a much crisper screen. The S10+ still looks like the better panel imo, it feels like it's a sticker that is sitting on top of the glass, but in terms of clarity, I honestly don't see the difference as much as I did the 1st few days after I got my P30 Pro.
So sorry, I just noticed your comment.Overall now having had the device a while are you still happy with it?
I own the LG V30.. I want to buy the P30 Pro but comparing them side by side... well... Text looks blurry-ish on the P30 Pro compared to the LG V30..
Now, it's not one device, I went ahead and compared in multiple stores.. the 1080p panel on the P30 Pro just isn't enough after using the LG for 2 years (and other LG phones with 1440p res before that).
I'm sure that I will get used to it...but should I? I mean, pay a premium price for a screen which is less sharp than even my 2014's LG G3?
I find it weird that they went ahead with just a FHD screen.
Sadly we only get the Exynos version of the Galaxys in my country which have limited gcam support (I'm not fond of Samsung's out of the camera jpeg results, and gcam does wonders here).Buy the S10 if the higher rez is important

Also, I love the fact that Huawei phones have autofocus on the ultra wide angle lens (I believe Huawei are the only company that does that).
I can get the P30 Pro today for $660 (128/6) , that's the reason I'm reading here... I think it's a decent price of this phone.
Exynos is the preferred chipset as you can unlock the bootloader for custom ROMs / root etc, Snapdragons have been locked since the S7 or earlier
I had the Exynos S9 and gcam worked fine
I've just come from the S9 with 1440p screen and now on the standard P30 I haven't noticed any blurry text, everything still looks sharp and you have display options to reduce screen display size and text size which makes things look like they are on a much higher rez panel
Camera does not blow me away vs the S9 though, it's not the beast it has been advertised as being, got better point and shoot pics on my S9 as well as raw/dng, only thing it seems to do better is obviously the zoom/telephoto and the super macro, but that's just because it has 2 additional lenses/sensors vs the S9, the main 40mp sensor is no better than the 12mp on the S9 and does not produce very good pics tbh, quite disappointed especially if the sun is in front of you, you lose saturation and detail very quickly and end up with a crappy washed out image
Also photos seem to come out a bit blurred when handheld, my guess is because you cannot disable the low light setting, even on normal photo mode with AI disabled if it is not 100% sunny day with the sun behind you, it leaves the shutter open too long and because we are not tripods we move our hands a tiny but and end up with a blurry photo, Pro mode could probably solve this but I don't want to be messing about with shutter speed every time I want to take a photo
raw has a vignetting issue, and all photos have a fairly strong green/yellow tint to them thanks to the new RYYB sensor
Definitely not a point and shoot camera, good when you have a while to set up the scene and make sure everything is where it needs to be to make it happy, otherwise go Samsung, I tried to exchange mine for the S10 but was past the 14 days and could not
Thanks a lot ! You helped me decide (to wait for something else).
Everything you said about the camera , I heard from other who moved to the P30 Pro.. Great camera, super capable, but not a point & shoot.
Cheers!!
Agree completely with the points. Definitely not a point and shoot, but the BIGGEST issue i've got is the color science. Thanks a lot ! You helped me decide (to wait for something else).

Sadly, Huawei will never be able to fix the color science in the RYYB sensor. Yes, they did promise a new color system that will be implemented in the next EMUI 10 update, same as the one found on the Mate 30 Pro, but after watching a dozen of reviews about this phone, color inconsistency is still there, especially in regards to skin tones.Agree completely with the points. RYYB sensor is nuts, makes skin tone go bonkers at times and color consistency between photos is just not there. You can snap 3 pics within a few seconds and get 3 different tones.
I'm hoping there's a fix with the EMUI 10 update.
