@Linux4 Hello, thanks for the twrp! So I am new to samsung devices always got htc and google devices.. I just buy this device new but i am a bit lost and what i have tried is not working. I am not new at all for flashing device however. I followed your instructions of How to flash TWRP, and other guides for next things (disable Encryption and magisk) and always the same result I remain stuck on the logo samsung is never boot. I need to flash again the firmware with odin to boot.

I have unlocked the bootloader and this part everything is functional. After i flash twrp with odin in AP.. reboot to twrp i format data , reboot to recovery, i flash Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_11.02.2020.zip ( This LINK ) and flash Magisk-v20.4.zip and reboot. I have trying to flash no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.1.zip ( This LINK you referred to this link in your other guide ) but i can not flash it i have always the same error: updater process ended with error: 1. Like i have said i am always stuck on logo samsung need to flash again the firmware to boot. Also i want to keep the stock rom samsung and no more encrypted with magisk for now. I have look your guide ( This one ) but i didn't do them for magisk because i would like to install twrp and install magisk to root it like this.. So What am I doing wrong?

1. These aren't my guides and they aren't needed for installing TWRP, what's written in the FAQ is enough to get it working.
2. Don't flash dmverity disabler (we have vbmeta instead and you don't need to flash a disabled vbmeta image if you only flash a custom recovery and my ROMs all automatically flash a disabled vbmeta)
3. Don't ever wipe with TWRP while having stock installed, it's intended for installing lineage so it formats /data to ext4, either use stock recovery for wiping or format /data back to f2fs

Btw: this encryption disabler won't disable encryption as it's meant for FDE while this device has FBE

Hi understood, likely Samsung has a different procedure.. So if I want to get the stock ROM with TWRP, encryption disabled and magisk what I need to do exactly after flashing twrp? I am still not sure what to do now.... Thanks!

I haven't done this yet (it's mainly meant for installing a custom ROM), but probably it should work if you just flash TWRP, flash magisk with that and then manually edit fstab to remove fileencryption=ice from it.

Ok I will try this not sure how to edit the fstab through I will check this. Otherwise your guide for the root is for stock ROM too?

I told you these guides aren't from me ... but rooting should work by flashing magisk in TWRP for stock too.
Btw fstab is at /vendor/etc/fstab.exynos9611, just mount /vendor and remove the flag "fileencryption=ice"

Yes sorry for that! I have mixed the threads... Okay thanks! I will try this today, but the first time I have flashing only the TWRP and nothing else I have stuck again in the Samsung logo..

Definitely is not working at all.. I have testing it again , I have installed twrp and magisk , I find myself in bootloop on the splash screen of samsung and brings me after a few times in twrp. I need to flash again the AP file from the stock rom in odin to boot.

After that i have trying to install twrp only on it , after the flash in odin i boot immediately in twrp and reboot in the system without anything installed. I can boot in the samsung rom.. but after when i go to the recovery i am back in the stock recovery , i have trying to flash a few times Twrp and is always the same results , twrp is automatically replaced by the stock recovery when I start the stock rom. Visibly stock rom and twrp do not work togheter ... I'm disappointed because I wanted the two together for now.

I'm assuming I'm only going to have to have magisk with the other guide for now. If anyone got it all working please let know us how. @Linux4 is it in your plans to make twrp compatible with the stock rom?

I only got TWRP working with rebooting to recovery right after flashing TWRP with ODIN.
After flashing a file with ODIN, the tablet reboots automatic, but if you press Volume-up + Power button right after ODIN is finished with flashing TWRP, my tablet rebooted to TWRP and is was persistent.

Of course i know that you need to go in twrp after flashing it before reboot... but.. after this when you boot the stock rom and reboot about two times.. and go after in the recovery twrp is gone. You are probably on custom rom

For anyone interested in using TWRP with Samsung stock ROM.

The usual applies try this at your own risk! I am not responsible for any damages this may cause to your device.

Warning this process requires wiping your data, please backup before you try this!!

I am also assuming that you have followed the instructions in the OP and have already installed TWRP.

IN TWRP

1 - Wipe --> Format Data --> Yes --> Home
2 - Install the Latest Multidisabler from TWRP
3 - Wipe --> Advanced Wipe - -> Select Data --> Partition Options --> Change FS --> Select F2FS --> Swipe to change --> Reboot

Change FS --> Select F2FS , this is for what for? I know is about the format type but I ask because I have flash many devices and never had to do that.

    FAQ

How to boot into Download mode
    1. Turn off the tablet
    2. Press and hold volume down and volume up
    3. Connect the tablet to a computer via USB cable

How to boot in recovery mode
    1. Turn off the tablet
    2. Press and hold volume up and power until bootloader logo appears

    How to flash TWRP
    1. Unlock the tablet's bootloader
      • Backup all your data as unlocking will factory reset your tablet!
      • Enable developer options and enable OEM unlock option there
      • Boot into download mode (you have to do it like described above, with adb reboot download the unlock option won't be available!)
      • Long press volume up to unlock your device
      • Go through initial setup again after unlock. You must connect to WiFi but can skip everything else.
      • Confirm that bootloader is actually unlocked (OEM unlock option grayed out and telling you it's already unlocked in developer options)
    2. Boot into download mode
    3. Flash twrp.img.tar (or twrp.img if you use heimdall) from TWRP download page using Odin/Heimdall.

    Thanks for making this possible.
I assume you have to rename the twrp.img to recovery.tar using 7zip, and flash it with the AP option in Odin, right?

Flashing failed, i get this log in Odin:
    <ID:0/008> Added!!
    <ID:0/008> Odin engine v(ID:3.1401)..
    <ID:0/008> File analysis..
    <ID:0/008> Total Binary size: 67 M
    <ID:0/008> SetupConnection..
    <ID:0/008> Initialzation..
    <ID:0/008> Get PIT for mapping..
    <ID:0/008> Firmware update start..
    <ID:0/008> NAND Write Start!!
    <ID:0/008> SingleDownload.
    <ID:0/008> twrp-3.4.0-0-gta4xlwifi.img
    <ID:0/008> Unassigned file
    <ID:0/008> Complete(Write) operation failed.
    <OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

You have to rename the twrp.img to recovery.img and add it to a .tar archive using e.g 7zip, I'll also add that to the FAQ

@Linux4, are you planning to add support for data encryption in future releases?

I'd like to add that (though only for AOSP FBE, not Samsung's encryption on stock) and already experimented a bit with it but it's still not working correctly.
