How did you get this firmware image? When exactly did you get it? Mediatek devices have a special download mode that you can put them in if there was ever a problem with the Rom itself. If you got the image before their latest security update, then we just have to use this image and install it through download mode, and launch the developer options exploit found by going to privacy and searching for "auto" in settings.
this entire thread has a lot of people who have already done that. However, the newer phones get BRICKED if you try it. Someone posted a pdf with download and everything... It's a bit suspicious but it'll get the job done, but you need a phone that has had 2 updates
We could. We just have to put the phone into download mode (special emergency flashing mode) and restore it using the stock rom.Could we theoretically just flash the stock rom for this phone?
Then we wouldn't have to work around Gabb's garbage
We could but the only versions available are for the rebranded versions that are locked down and don't support other carrier APNs. (Visible and Yahoo Mobile)
How do they get bricked if they are using a stock firmware image? There's literally nothing to brick. It's like restoring the phone before it got patched.
they are getting bricked because they have newer versions of the phone with firmware that likely prevents you from going back
Pretty sure someone did and they couldn't install apps from there so no luck

Any way to enable USB debugging with the new update?322I have an idea. Go into android recovery (power and volume up buttons) and select the wipe data/factory reset option. Just know your parent (might) have to enter the email address associated with the phone. I have never done that because I never had a reason to but just select that option and it may downgrade it.
