Hi there,

Sorry but after reading it's not entirely clear to me. If I just want to root my shield do I have to unlock bootloader first?

I'm planning to root in a few hours to install the sixaxis app to play in front the TV wirelessly with a ps3 controller.

Thanks in advance.

Edit:

I see it's necessary. Sorry for asking.

No problem dude!

How did the kit work for you?

Well,

it was fine to unlock bootloader. Unfortunately I could not root with your Toolkit. I followed all the steps fine, super SU was pushed fine, but when I go to the recovery to install it I don't have the option because I see all the time the robot with red exclamation.

I'm sure I did as you said. Drivers were fine. I even tried unplugged just afer the option reboot to bootloader.

Finally I rooted fine manually with adb/fastboot commands.

Anyway, thanks for your kit, It was a good start.

seeing as 4.3 is out now and the manual one does not work for me, will try this one. if this one doesn't work, then a fix needs to be made for 4.3 support.

Nope, this doesn't work as well.

I will see what I can do, I no longer own my Shield (long story) but that should be no issue.

I need to know one thing though, what goes wrong and when?

It seems the boot image doesn't work, I already used another root thing from the Q&A section, if I didn't already I would try doing it again to write it all out. Sorry :(.

I have installed fastboot ADB drivers run your toolkit but when reaching Waiting for device nothing happens? am in bootloader but just stays on that screen?

When Listing fastboot devices it shows nothing , but when listing ADB devices (when not in bootloader) it shows?

This is on version 4.31

device offline?

all drivers successfully installed, but when it attempts to unlock the bootloader it tells me the device is offline? is this due to 4.3 update? also it just received system update 64 from nvidia. If not, I'm sure its something else glaringly obvious. Thanks.

Hi, I solved this problem by switching the adb version with the ones provided in the android sdk for 4.4 I have packaged them for you here so you don't have to dl the huge bundle to get it.

I am having an issue though, seems the image included in the toolkit for restoring back to factory does not work. I am stuck in an infinite bootloop. I figured out though that holding the Nvidia logo button for about 10-15 seconds will power off the device and the home+back+Nvidia bottom held from off state will take you to the bootloader.

Does this work with update 65? (4.3) yet? i'm on a really slow DSL connection, so If I should wait for a newer version, I would like to avoid this DL for now. thanks!

So this just put me in an infinite bootloop, stuck at the SHIELD symbol with the green fog right before the OS initializes. I followed directions as instructed.

Any ideas how to fix this??
