Tried it just now on stock, power+vol down still works for taking screenshot.
Lol, it DOES WORK ON THIS ROM SINCE I'M ON IT. Google must of changed things recently but it's also obvious that your not using this since your just assuming it doesn't work. I would try it before posting incorrect information. Stock camera works fine and so does screenshot.
I don't know why stock camera app crashes and pwr+vol.down for screenshots doesn't work on my Pixel 5a device (the swipe up method and the app called SCREENSHOT Tile works). The stock camera app seems to be a Pixel Experience bug for some 5a's. I'm definitely on your ROM, currently running version 12.1-220619-0350. I'll update to the one posted today and see if the issue is still there.
That explains it. Your not on my current version. These bugs were fixed and the new version is 12.1-20220709. Boot twrp in bootloader and sideload the current version and it should fix your issues. If it doesn't, then perform a wipe and do a clean install. I promise you it works.

my build of 7/7 that i build from their site. the camera app works fine when you update it. vol+down screen shot works. so i am sure this build works as well. also i followed the guide for passing safetynet on a different post here and it will pass safetynet not sure if it works out of the box because i just did magisk and the two modules before i ran the test.
Yes, the bugs were fixed including safetynet. It will pass without magisk installed.
Thanks! Everything works now, except Google Pay. Error says "Phone doesn't meet security requirements". But I think I read it rarely works on any unlocked phone.

Do you have magisk installed because that would do it. I do not and I'm passing safetynet without it. Gpay works for me.
No, I do not have magisk installed, never installed magisk on this Pixel 5a. Google Play, banking apps and everything else works fine.
Really? You along with another posted that the screenshot doesn't work with the combination keys!!
Twrp removed as part of install process. vendor_boot and boot supplied as part of install process. August security update patch will be in next update.

You MUST be on Android 12 to use this!!!!!
If your already on Android 13, you can not go back to Android 12, so don't try flashing this!!!
Your bootloader must also be unlocked to install custom firmware.
To do this, reboot to bootloader and type the following: fastboot flashing unlock
The custom kernel of this ROM hides the unlocked bootloader. The device will pass Safetynet and the Play Store will report the device as certified. Based on this, root, magisk and the modules are not needed to pass device certification.
This is based on the Android Open Source Project. It includes various proprietary hardware-specific code.
All the source code is available in the Github repo here.
Basic requirements
- Read through the instructions at least once before actually following them, so as to avoid any problems due to any missed steps!
- Make sure your computer has adb and fastboot. Setup instructions can be found here.
- Enable USB debugging on your device.

The ROM uses the Pixel Experience source code, device specific code. I made other minor changes and used compression to lower the file size of the ROM, creating more space in the internal storage with minor reduction in performance. Updated every week with minor changes.

If you are already on this ROM, you can dirty flash updates without wiping data. Simply set to inactive slot in bootloader. Reboot to bootloader then
fastboot --set-active=other
Then repeat all steps except #2

I use the same repository located on GitHub. The security patches are still from last month, May. They haven't been updated yet. I will update them myself if not updated soon. I'll have to pull it from stock and it requires more work. Since I work a lot, I'll do it when I get a chance. It's not extensive, so I should be able to apply it on next full update Thursday.2

Newer Android devices' bootloaders pass a verified boot flag to the kernel. This means that if the bootloader is unlocked, it sends that flag, and the kernel listens to it then SafetyNet will fail. And solution is to patch your kernel to ignore the flag
2Updates now available through the updater. Settings, System, updater. Do not flash twrp permanently. You will have serious problems.
