Nope, Dirty Flashing can only be done when you're using the same ROM. If you're coming from a different ROM you can use apps to will help you migrate your files from an old rom to a new rom.

Reminder: Always do a TWRP Backup of your device.

Thanks amstro. I didn't explain properly. I assume i can just perform a clean install as below without needing to revert to original firmware etc..?

[*]Clean Flash instuctions
Entire data vanishes in step number 1, so take backup.
1) Wipe dalvik, cache, system, data in TWRP and Format Data is up to u-where u hv to type "yes". (just to be safe)
2) Since 23rd march '20 build, the Firmware is shipped together with the ROM so u dont need to flash firmware (if u r installing older versions, u need to flash firmware)
3) Flash the PE / Plus ROM through TWRP
4) Restart

Yup. Also make sure that you're using the latest TWRP recovery to avoid any problems.

I personally use MGC_7.4.104_Parrot043_v5 with F1v9.6_6.2.030 from san1ty as alternative.

i am not happy about the removal of gcam. i tried this parrot version (app keeps stopping) and the latest BSG version which shows only a black screen when i click on the last picture i took (it shows it for a split second though). idk whats up with that, any recommendations or tips on what to do?

edit: i tried the san1ty version and that seems to be working alright but from what i understand it is an older version (6.2 compared to 7.4) so i am still looking for a working up to date gcam version

This port of parrot working fine. Try to redownload the gcam and clear cache/data of the app. You can also try the clone apk of the app. Just scroll down here and click on the link which says Clone.

I'm using Version 7.3.020_onFire, and it seems to work fine for me.

i reinstalled it and it is working now but it also just shows a black screen when i tap on the last picture taken. but when i tap on the little ^ above the thumbnail it in fact shows me the picture. what is going on?

You need to have Google Photos app to open recent photos taken through the GCam application

it was working fine with the gcam included in previous builds of the rom and it is working with with the san1ty gcam version, plus the bsg gcam shows the photo for a split second before going to a black screen.

edit: so i enabled the google photos app and now it is displaying the last picture taken, that's really stupid. i don't like having another app just to have the camera show me a picture that was just taken. i hate google roping you into their eco system like that. especially when it was introduced in later versions of the app, as the 6.2 version can display the picture just fine. that's just going backwards in developing software.

is there a way to get the gcam app that was included in the rom before it was removed? i also think that going from "some people having problems removing gcam" to "everybody now has to find a way to get it back" is a bad move, especially in a "pixel experience" rom.

Build-in Gcam removed cause of issues with ROM and now you have also the option to choose the gcam port you like more easy. If you are not happy with more recent version of gcam, you can use 6.2 port from sanity which is pretty stable but u will miss some feaures like Astrophotography mode etc. If I remember well, build-in gcam was 6.2 BSG port.
Parrot Gcam have an option in advanced settings to disable Google Photos so you can use gallery of your choice, try it. I am using this port because have a lot of options like "save selfie like preview" and some more which other ports don't have. Also the quality of photos is nice.
You are free to test and choose whatever u like more.
