I have a post (new thread) I have been meaning to create for a while, but its too complex to do in a single sitting. Its info for others, so I dont get any gain personally.

Does the new interface have like a "draft" function, where I can build the post/thread over a few days, before I post it and make it public?

No, draft only works for replying

I thought so, I couldn't see it anywhere on the screen. So I started typing and switch to the "Toggle BB Code" view, and save that off in a text file on my computer, ready to paste back into another new thread, when I wish to work on it. I guess starting it was the biggest roadblock.

Ever since losing posts due to accidental browser navigation I've been using text files for draft and recomend it in spite of the additional work.

I'm so sorry, I'm trying to use the search function for this thread, but for some reason, I'm getting results from the whole forum.
I got Magisk 24.1 installed (App is 25.2). I'm updating to 25.2 (Direct install), reboot and everything is fine. For a few days.
Then network services stop working requiring a reboot to get back up and running. And in return Magisk is back to 24.1..
I've tried to disable all the modules before updating = no difference.
Maybe one of the modules needs to be removed?
Modules:
ARCore/playground Patcher 2.1
Busybox for Android NDK 1.34.1
CloudflareNDS4Magisk IPv6 2.6
Debloater (Terminal Emulator) 17.3.3
F-Droid Privileged Extension2021-07-21
Terminal Modifications 1.4.6
Universal SafetyNet Fix 3.3.1

Or is there some known issue I don't know of?
Do you use a browser or the XDA app?
When you try to search, do you get a dialog box that lets you choose "Search this thread"?

There is also a link at the top of each page (in a browser) to "Search this thread".

Fine, but try to "Search in this thread" for a keyword Vacations and please tell how many posts does XDA find 'relevant' for that keyword

Please do that test EXACTLY as above

I got two, yours and @Oswald Boelcke's.
Are you aware of other mentions of the word?
I got ALL posts because instead of for Vacations (or whatever other keyword) XDA returns results for the wildcard "*"

See the screenshot
"Search results for query: *"

Using XDA Application

And the same in the next post when I use CHROME

Exactly the same result (search for wildcard - listing all posts in the thread) when using XDA app - see one post above

Browser, and I use "Search this thread"..

Search is fubar and in many case automatically populates criteria with an asterisk signifying wildcard. Workaround in link in my signature. Web browser recommend for searching and for viewing signature.

@zgfg, I originally intended to post this here and got my wires crossed, did not realize we were in magisk thread until after a few posts. Lol.

In any event, @maakosan, the "asterisk" work around will allow you to search for the actual criteria.

To avoid any misunderstanding, the screen recording shows how "Search this thread" for a given keyword (like Vacations) responds with wildcard results "Search results for query: *" ALSO for CHROME Browser (latest version) on the phone:

Ie, the bug (for sure known for about a year and reported by few in couple of threads) is not limited to XDA app

I can corroborate that this is not an XDA app specific issue and that it occurs in the app even without host based ad-blockers enabled, and also that in desktop browsers it is not caused by 3rd party script blockers or Firefox' quirky security settings.

In addition to this being an issue for one of the most common actions users are expected to take (search) I'm curious about what the site is using as a criteria as to when the search works properly or fails, eg is it something about the device, the network, or something about the user's XDA account, or something else?

From your screen-record, I see you are using the Community App Dark theme.

About a year ago, I found the search function along with expanding the screen width was borked when using the Community Dark theme.

I switch to the xda-Dark theme and I could expand (hide the side bars) and the search function worked properly.
I just checked the regular (light) xda theme and the expand and search worked with that theme also.

Cheers. :cowboy:

Note:

I'm not following this entirely. Is the app theme related to the asterisk issue or just the layout of the page?

When I set the theme to Community Dark, the search function is broken.

Computer using the full web (Brave browser)..

The search box in the title bar does not give me the options to limit my search by thread or user.
comunity-dark-searchbar.png
So I get a global search for "theme".

Using the Search this thread button for "theme"

If it actually opens the search box. Still shows

When I set the theme to one of the other options [XDA | XDA-Dark | XDA - Classic], the search function works correctly.
Both the one in the title bar and the Search this thread button.

The xda app, there is no search option in the title bar.
The Search this thread button is broken for me regardless of theme set.

It has been a while since I last tested any of this so, I refreshed my self by testing this all again.

To quote myself from a different thread. 🙃

The current xda app is not usable for me..
I only have the app installed to get notifications.
I use the mWeb version to view notifications and posts.
Everything else is from a computer and the full web version of xda.

Hope it helps more than confuse. 🙃

Cheers. :cowboy:

Thanks for the explanation. That's a separate and more complicated issue than just replacing the * with your search criteria. I don't even use the part of the search that you're using their thanks again.

On 3/11/2021 at around 10am New York time, XDA will be upgrading our forum software to XenForo 2.2 which brings a bunch of new improvements, like a new thread preview tool, a Device Inventory tool to show off which phones you use, a most-thanked widget in every thread to easily spot the most important posts, plus a host of other new feature you can read about here. Not every feature of 2.2 will be available/active on XDA from day one, but we'll roll more things out soon as we settle in.

Please use this thread to post about bugs, issues, or overall comments. If reporting a bug or issue, be sure to tell us about your configuration (device, browser, OS) and the steps to reproduce the issue. Screenshots help!

In addition, later today we'll be updating the XDA app to work with 2.2. :cowboy:

    Known Bugs/Regressions:
    1. Advanced forum user max title length is too short, truncating them (e.g. "Senior Recognized Developer / Recognized Contribut"). Fixed 06/18 https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...d-comments-here.4245677/page-16#post-85203961
    2. Long forum names are truncated (e.g. "Android Software and Hacking General [Developers O").
    3. Thanks/Likes counts are reduced for most users, sometimes dramatically, seemingly from Aug 29 - Dec 2; possibly related to posts reverting to older versions.
    4. Various old forum emojis aren't mapped to new unicode ones, and ones in old posts that do exist (e.g. :cowboy:) don't display.
    5. Broken redirects from old links for many threads/posts.
    6. Disabling Alert in Preferences forces Mobile App Push enabled, one should be able to disable both.
    7. "Unfurl"ed URL links to posts sometimes show a preview of the OP instead of the correct post (e.g. [URL unfurl="true"]https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/welcome-to-xda-2021.4197018/post-84073623[/URL]
      ==
      )
    8. Missing colored/underlined user names to denote advanced forum users (e.g. Moderators/Admins and Recognized Contributors/Themers/Developers). Fixed 12/14 https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...d-comments-here.4245677/page-28#post-86097881
    9. Posts containing only quotes and no new text shouldn't be allowed.
    10. Ability to subscribe to an entire forum is missing for some forums.
    11. XDA Wiki pages are missing.
    12. [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] functionality is broken and pics lost.
    13. Shell scripts are detected and rejected as attachments, even if renamed as .txt files.
    14. Search "this category" option never shows any results when used.
    15. Recognized Developers can't moderate their own threads anymore.
    16. Missing/broken legacy devices in Device Inventory (e.g. Galaxy Nexus is listed when you search but fails when you attempt to add it).
    17. Missing setting to receive emails for mentions and/or quotes.
    18. Reaction Score doesn't match between profile and "All" under Reactions Received.
    19. DevDB secondary thread contributors have completely lost access to updating these threads.

See previous lists in the "Welcome To XDA 2021!" thread for items resolved up-to-and-including the XenForo 2.2 upgrade: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/welcome-to-xda-2021.4197018

    👆

Truncated special titles appear to be getting fixed today! 🙌
Yay, not that I want to send me flowers but I send flowers to myself still 😜, there were 66 accounts to manually edit and then inform members about this change. Yea there were not other solutions than doing it manually.... 😭

I'm happy to have contributed to this and make disappear the truncated tiles. We have 50 char maximum allowed for it so it was not easy to find a good and consistent compromise for everyone and every case.

BTW, no one forced me, I was fine to volunteer for this task.

    @svetius @bitpushr @MikeChannon @the_scotsman @Audentio

Can you please add .tar.gz, .tgz, .tar.xz, .txz, etc. to the accepted attachment extension list? I'm trying to upload AIK-Linux v3.8 here and this is a bit of an annoying last minute snag. :p

Please also look into allowing uploading simple shell scripts again. These used to be allowed at least when renamed to .sh.txt but currently they still get detected and blocked.

This is a developers and power users forum, you would think these things would already be allowed! :)
    (y)I have added those extenstions.

    Mike
