I plan on buying an HTC Sensation to use with AT&T to avoid their smartphone charges (if they don't have the IMEI for the phone/it isn't compatible with their 3G, they won't force you to sign up for a data plan).

My question is, will the T-Mobile "out-of-contract" HTC Sensations be unlocked? If not, have they announced an international "unlocked" version yet (I know they've announced other versions but I haven't seen any claimed to be unlocked yet, unless it's supposed to just be assumed)?

I'm asking since I know it'll probably be a while before we get S-OFF (to unlock it ourselves) and I'm still debating whether or not to purchase an XTC clip (I'd rather not since spending this much on a phone is already pushing it lol) and because I'm assuming in order to use it with another carrier at all it has to be unlocked?

Thanks in advance!

No, the phone will not be sold unlocked.

However, from what I've read in the G2x forum, T-Mobile seems to be accommodating to some off-contract buyers. If you purchase the phone full price, then call and either 1) ask straightforward for an unlock to a non-subsidised phone or 2) make up a nice story (gift to a friend going overseas, etc) you'll probably have luck.

Many non-TMo buyers of the G2x have been able to get unlocks via Customer Care without getting any contract, prepaid, or otherwise.

I buy all my phones unlocked from T-Mobile. They will allow you to buy the phone unlocked just not tablet devices.

Really? How does that work? I just have to buy it in a physical store (not online) and request it unlocked it something?

At a time when some of the top manufacturers are unlocking their bootloaders it seems bizarre that HTC are regressing. Bad move!

Looks like Samsung for me.

Just walk in you do no T-Mobile has non-contract plans yep they don't like to do it because they don't make money but. T-Mobile will usually do it without a problem.
