Sometimes people have persistent radio problems (I haven't). But they all fix via flashing stock again... I say go for it.

PS are there more for $50?

So all the downloads that are required to flash are still the same on the first page? Well except the custom kernel since we don't need it. Also, should we use the gapps from the first page or those posted on the third page?

I used the gapps off the first page and if you look around there is a twrp file somewhere for the radio package as well if u end up needing to update those that was an easier rout than trying to flash in fastboot for me.

Which gapp download is it? On the page there's 3 download buttons, I'm unsure on which one it is. Sorry if it seems like an amateur question.

Update

To update cm 12.1 to a more recent version of that same 12.1 I just need to wipe cache and dalvik cache and then flash update and recipe cache and dalvik cache right?

Yes, but the most recent version of 12.1 is from April of this year. I'm still on the last nightly from April 5, 2016, as is my wife's phone. I'll update to Marshmallow sometime before Nougat comes out, I'm sure. I just haven't had time to re-install everything and figure out the nooks and crannies like I did with CM12 and then CM12.1.

@ChazzMatt Looking to flash a stable version of CM 12.1 moving from stock on my XT1254 Droid Turbo which I've just recently unlocked and rooted. Enjoying some of the Exposed Mods on top of stock, but recall my old days with the Razr Maxx using CM 11 and want to move towards a good set up with CM on the Turbo. Value your opinion on the build and proper installation to get started.

I've read quite a lot and would very much appreciate your recommendations. Looking to make sure I have correct install, gapps pairing, and whether or not custom kernel and supers su still need to be flashed as well. Also, your views on CM 12 vs. CM 13 on our beloved Turbo at this point. I'm really just looking for something that can be a solid DD in the CM line as a first custom ROM install.

Thanks so much for your thoughts in advance if you can help.

If you flash CM12.1 you will have to flash the last nightly from April that I posted a few months ago. The same Quark queue is used for CM13 and all the CM12.1 ROMs got pushed out, as far as I know. But somebody asked for it and I posted it.

I always flash SuperSu. Custom kernel is not necessary. I like BHB27 kernel, but my wife's phone doesn't. Don't ask me why. Maybe because hers was Mexico I flashed to India before flashing CM custom ROM, and there's some remnant of something somewhere. But mine was Puerto RIco and I flashed India before flashing to CM. I don't know. Anyway to keep both our phones on the same support level, I had to remove BHB27 kernel from her phone as it would randomly reboot and lose her wallpaper and stuff like that, so I so removed it from my phone as well.

One ROM I would suggest you try is the Resurrection Remix 5.1.1

RR is based on CM, but has more options. Seems like some have ditched Marshmallow to go retro, back to a simpler, faster Lolllipop ROM.

[ROM][All Quark][5.1.1]Resurrection Remix 5.5.9 [Optimized / O3 / GRAPHITE / KRAIT]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx/development/rom-resurrection-remix-5-5-5-t3197643

I decided to flash back to 5.5.9 to compare speed, battery life and smoothness between lollipop and marshmallow ROMs, and the difference is like night and day. Lollipop is doing leaps and bounds better in speed, app loading, boot times and battery life compared to the marshmallow builds
My father has a quark also installed the version 5.1.1 of the Ressurection Remix and actually agree with everything mentioned above to the reported user.
When I do go Marshmallow I would probably go Bliss or Resurrection Remix.
