It may work. In theory because the base models are the same and can run the same ROMs. But my fear would be that if you bork your bootloader your device would be hard bricked. You need the bootloader to even start the boot processes.
I have an SD card with a boot image flashed. I recovered from a wrong bootloader hard brick using it. Samsung phones will attempt to boot from SD card when unable to boot otherwise. Could you provide me with an Odin or safe strap flashable of your bootloader?

@jrkruse what do you think the chances are of it working if i flash a straight talk bootloader to my Verizon phone? Do you think it might work as a bootloader unlock? I'm willing to try because I have unbrick.img which makes my phone unbrickable.
Well you have to have an unlocked bootloader to begin with to flash an unsecured bootloader. So No it doesnt work. It fails in odin it wont even flash. If you try it with a zip or flash fire you will get this nice black dead screen, that can be brought back to life if your lucky with an unbrick image. I tried and failed my friend

Dont use someone with a lock bootloader or you will have a locked bootloader. Make your own. There is instructions on the general thread and in my rooting thread

Oh and it also dont work if you try a unbrick image from someone with an unlocked bootloader it simply fails in the flash with odin and heimdall. I have tried it all

I would never try to use it, but I was hoping to use it to learn how to make a Bootable SD card. I will have to check your thread out.

Where did you get the file? Would you mind passing it on to me? It's the straight talk one you tried, yes? I can see why it wouldn't work, but if I can I would like to try it myself anyways (even though it seems pretty certain from what you said that it won't work)

Edit: I am also curious if I hard brick intentionally, will the phone maybe boot an unsecured bootloader from an unbrick.img sd???

Oh here you go http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-S902L/ This is the only thing out there unless you get a system dump from someone

Maybe one could flash the strait talk image by replicating what was done in this thread.

Hey everyone,
I am currently running a straight talk variant galaxy s5, which is exactly the same as the verizon variant s5, just without the locked bootloadet. I know this for a couple of reasons.
1. I was able to root and flash twrp via Odin without safestrap.
2. I can boot into recovery without safestrap.
3. I can flash roms and make back ups in twrp without safestrap.
4. I can flash any verizon variant s5 rom, and they work flawlessly.
quick question for you this may sound silly, but you bought the straight talk variant from Walmart, but do you have a Verizon sim card in the phone is it running on Verizons network?? would that be possible for me to do buy a a straighttalk S5 from walmart and pop in my Verizon sim and flash CM to it??

I am running on straight talk. And I don't think verizon allows you to bring your own device at all. Your device imei needs to be registered on there network. But if they do, you just call tracfone unlock or go to there website and get your unlock code.

Hey is there any chance you could grab a debrick.img of your phone and send it to me? I'm still experimenting with trying to circumvent the locked bootloader. Thanks. Here's the file to flash in recovery. The unbrick files will be placed on your external sd card.
