Any feedback on if / how speakerphone is working? Does other party hear constant static / noise?

I'm been on CM10 8/19 nightly since it dropped. Everything works. I use it heavily for work and personal.

I've put off updating my ROM to another nightly, because it takes me a hour or two to get everything restored back the way I want it. Seems you really do need to do both wipes and a cache flush, then flash ROM, then latest JB apps, to assure best results. I've tried cutting corners twice, and both times, it's bit me in the ass.

Kind of hoping they'll hit a "stable" point on the nightlies soon, and I'll catch up then. I ran CM9 happily for about a month, but I'm so pleased with the additional smoothness, stability and additional features of JB, I haven't looked back since I switched.

Has anyone else been experiencing the issue with the phone not ringing on incoming calls? I back to stock and started from scratch and re installed CM10, which seamed to solve it. Then I tested out aokp for a day, decided to go back to CM10, wiped all 3 and now I have the not ringing every time issue again. Any thoughts?

Well I can now provide some feedback on the speakerphone under CM10. It's the same as CM7 and CM9 - it's horrible and useless. The party on the other end can hear himself in an echo. On my end, all sounds just fine. Despite efforts to boost in-call volume (DSP), and adjust the speakerphone mic, while CM seems to be a really cool ROM, it just can't seem to address the speakerphone issue. With more and more laws being made to go hands-free while driving - speakerphone is a must. Besides, the devices are PHONES and whether the call is done through the internal earpiece or speaker, it should handle that one function as a minimum in my opinion.

I did some brief reading about MTD ROMS (as I've been told speakerphone is an issue with MTD ROMS), but I still just don't get it. MTD is a technology which uses a different partition size. I just don't get how it relates to speakerphone or why it prevents such from working. Have to go back to SuperClean (unless someone has another suggestion). I really like CM, but this one issue, just this one issue, prevents my use.

Guess I've always used my phone with a Bluetooth headset, or just held it to my head. Didn't realize that there was a issue with the speakerphone.

Anybody try to apply the latest nightly (9/26) and get an error regarding partition layout?
Yes, it's not really an error though. It's more of a warning that it needs to wipe all data to do the repartition (which has changed, for the last time I think). 9/26 and 9/27 are pretty flawless builds... Don't hesitate

No one has had the issue where the music players can't see your music and the gallery can't see their pix? I have been beating my brains out trying to find a fix...was on CM10 8/19 then on CM10 nightlies, did it on AOKP 9/27 as well! Ugh.

Possible Error on 9/27 Nightly

Use Titanium Backup not Nandroid when upgrading to 9/27 (probably 9/26 too). Got stuck in a bootloop when I tried to restore my Nandroid (twice). Flashed to stock and then back to cm10 to fix. Boo :crying:

Nandroids won't work due to the new partition layout

Only way I got music player to see my music was to use Androzip or oi file manager go to each song (pain staking) open with Apollo I used tune wiki after it starts playing hit back button to repeat on next song then it should be fine next time you open player, as for pica I used quick pic

I use iSyncr to sync my songs and they show up in Apollo. Not sure why your music isn't showing up.

Ya me either. I flashed MIUI v4 latest version and boom, there the music and pix all were! Went back to stock and worked up to AOKP milestone6 and all was good, stepped up to JB and poof...gone again. There's a lot of posts about this on other sites on XDA so I imagine it will get worked out eventually.

not that easy

I appreciate the replies. I did write however "Despite efforts to boost in-call volume (DSP), and adjust the speakerphone mic..." I did indeed try that under advanced. My true goal is to get it working, not to complain about it. I really like CM other than that shortcoming.

And when you did it, did it clear up things on YOUR end or the CALLER's? Because when I used speakerphone, I could hear the caller fine, perfectly in fact and there was no echo on my end. It's on the caller's end.

I then lowered the speakerphone mic on my end starting at 1 and kept going up. At 1 the caller had no echo, but couldn't hear me at all. Went to 5 and so on and there was no point that 1) the caller could hear me without my shouting into the mic AND 2) there was no echo on their end.

I believe CM developers know about the speakerphone issue. I have been reporting it since v7 and as recently as this past July. Others have chimed in as well. Again, something about "well you'll get that with MTD ROMs..." and I still don't understand. My Fascinate works well with SuperClean and its speakerphone functionality is as perfect as Verizon's stock. I just yearn for a day that CM will allow it to work. I don't have or want to carry and charge a headset. :(

Yes it clears up the callers end up to ten after that echo comes back,I confirmed it with a few people on two different phones one running aokp milestone 6 and this one running cm10, for some reason the Mic comes on30 when you first flash these ROMs, that's just the easiest solution I can find

Wow - that's really good. I consider you lucky and have phone envy. I don't get the same result on my end, at least with CM10. I presume you are using a Samsung Fascinate per this forum name? I guess one of your phones was not a fassy?

Anyway, I can't say I tried AOKP milestone 6, but definitely did CM10. Is AOKP based on CM10 as if so, I think I would have the same failed results. Anyone have links to AOKP and install instructions handy? I went to: http://aokp.co/index.php/releases/_/milestone-6-r27 but all three links for fascinate are either 404 or "file not found".

Against my better judgement, I tried the AOKP. Sorry to report that it produced the same results - speakerphone creates echo on caller's end. Adjusting the speakerphone mic down to 10 doesn't correct, even down to 5. Of course at that point, the caller is having trouble hearing me at all. I guess I will give up trying to get another ROM/kernel combo than SuperClean since I insist on a working speakerphone.

Thanks again for your efforts and input.
