I suggest you just flash that recovery via fastboot right before you want to flash CM12 and use the previous one for other stuff (nandroid / wiping). But thanks, will look into it.

LED notification is disabled on purpose. It shines to your ambient light sensor, works only with USB / charger plugged (main reason for disabling it) and there is an intent to get active display working on CM12 for ghost / obake..
But why don't you take LED driver from official firmware from droid mini? With it there will be work LED notification not only with USB,

Try it with a clean install and let us know if it boot loops on you. Doesn't take long to test. Just be sure to have a backup before you swap recovery.

what recovery did you use if you don't mind me asking?
The one that skrillax listed for me above at the top of this post but you need to fastboot twrp 2.6.3 or whatever else you use first so you can do all your wipes and then fastboot flash his recovery and then with that recovery install the rom and gapps and manually download the nightlie updates yourself from the obake getcm and just dirty flash them over then old updates

I've never gotten 2 days battery life on ANY phone but I am a heavy heavy user BUT is eem to get pretty good battery life honestly probably better than stock. Just don't use cms theme showcase.

You're making me want to scrap my cm11 rom for cm12. I just want to be able to use recents on the recents button rather than holding in home. Do you know if that works like that?

Has anyone been able to figure out how to obtain root access on cm12?

It probably works with power saving mode, or high accuracy right? Because that's a bug that I got with rottgrub's cm11 patch.
