Hi.

If you are a Theme enthusiast while testing new themes sometimes end up with a bootloop :( which happened to me many times
only way out is data wipe which is a worst nightmare for the flasher(without having backup)

here is a solution where data wipe is not involved :)

Requirements
  • Recovery filemanager like AROMAFileManager/TWRP Recovery (which has inbuilt FileManager)
  • incase if you are using AromaFM you shold know how to use it in recoverry
  • Patience

Steps
  1. Boot into recovery
  2. Open Recovery File manager
  3. goto Data/system/
  4. Delete theme folder
  5. Done
  6. Reboot

No Boot loops. Change the theme once you boot :)
Hope this saves many hours for users like me who struggle to recover the data.
This doesn't work for me. I also delete the folder of the theme, still bootlooping

thanks so much for this! it saved me from having to do something drastic. i would like to note that i had to delete the theme folder as well as the /data/app/<installed theme> in order to get things working again.

Thanks!!

I have a different phone and CM13, but this process works!

It may be in fact the boot animation that is causing the issue, as that's the only thing I deleted.

I have a tiny question. If I'm using TWRP, can I flash a ROM from an external device? (Attaching a pendrive inside TWRP)

didn't fix it.

I have nexus 7 2013(deb) with cm 13 and a theme called 'Android N' got me stock in android nougat's boot animation.
I tried what you recommended and deleted /data/system/theme with aromafilemanager installed with cwm recovery, now it's stock in CM's animation! what should i do? any solution/alternatives?
